Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar isn’t a movie, it’s a wavelength. You either get on it or you don’t. I’m sure some viewers will complain that Barb and Star are so quirky and chipper that they’re annoying, or that the film’s comedy is too bizarre and random. Take my advice: Cut those people out of your life. You don’t need to associate yourself with anyone who is that wrong about something this important.

This is like a Muppet movie, but all the Muppets are played by humans. It’s so deliriously silly. Sure to become a cult classic.

I loved this so much. It was so stupid and that is the highest compliment in the world. I love stupid movies and want so many weird 13 year olds to see this and quote this and then watch it again 10 and 20 years later and be like “damn that was dumb. Still laughing though.”

Also maybe worth noting that this is the first time I rented a $20 movie because of this pandemic and am not mad at it!!!

This movie is such a vibe.

Like Kristen Wiig and her writing partner Annie Mumolo created two insane characters and then created the exact movie those two character would want to star in. It's surreal, unpredictable, and most of all fucking hilarious!

I wish more comedies would get creative with their direction and set design like this one did. It's such a trip from start to finish, and it creates a world where they throw so much shit at you the whole way through, a talking crab named "Morgan Freemand" suddenly makes sense.

It's also a veiled parody of the 60s Beach Party movies which is very much appreciated.

I'm obsessed with this movie, I can't wait to watch it again.

I haven’t laughed this much at a movie in a long time. Incredibly fun and gleefully stupid. It’s reminiscent of films like Austin Powers, Zoolander or Tommy Boy, with lovable characters and memorable gags.

the culottes did not disappoint

I set a reminder on my phone for the day this was released on Redbox. Considered watching it a second time before it was time to return.

This was such an absurd, original and enjoyable watch. I’ve always enjoyed Kristen Wiig’s humor and it’s time to pump all the money into her projects.

I love Barb and Star. I want to be their friend. This also made me a fan of Jamie Dornan and who saw that coming? 

Also, can’t remember the last time a comedy made me laugh this much. I don’t think there’s been many great comedies in the past decade but this may be the kickstart we need. So many great quotes.

i had high expectations and this did not meet them. i love Kristin Wiig but this was not it sorry. it was entertaining though

"Barb and Start Go to Vista Del Mar" is tremendously funny and totally delightful. Yet, it won't be for everyone because of its decidedly quirky brand of humor. Kirsten Wigg and Annie Mumulo play single, middle-aged women and best friends vacationing at a Florida resort. Of course, hijinks ensue -- killer mosquitos, a series of musical numbers, talking wise crabs, and deep meditations on the name Trish. Wigg and Mumulo, who also wrote the movie, deliver one of the best performances by a comedy duo. And it very much feels like *one* performance, as they are so perfectly in sync, so much on the same wavelength that they don't stop at finishing each other sentences but confidently partake of seemingly the same stream of consciousness. This is a comedy that merits countless sequels. Barb and Star are movie stars.

On est complètement dans l'humour loufoque, une collision entre Wayne's World et Austin Power. Toutes les vannes ne touchent pas la cible, mais celles qui le font, le font vraiment bien ! Quelques séquences musicales dignes de The Lonely Island, des situations bien absurdes, il y a du très bon.
J'ai n'ai pas complètement accroché aux personnages principaux, de gentilles divorcées de 45 ans, naïves et un peu mièvre, mais tous les personnages secondaires remontent le niveau.
C'est globalement moyen, mais avec plusieurs séquences vraiment brillantes.

Hit or miss. But in the end, it was worth it for Richard Cheese.

A choice I found interesting but I'm not sure what to think about: the whole movie feels like a big screen adaptation of a tv show. The way everything is introduced in the first act feels exactly like a Spongebob Movie or Beavis and Butthead Do America. The main characters live a strictly defined life, as you might expect a sitcom character to do, until a call to action falls at their feet and they go to fight some never-before-seen villain.

If you're familiar with this type of movie, hopefully you understand what I mean. I've never seen anything quite like it.
