very basic animated retelling of beauty and the beast, fun to note that the director also directed many wile e coyote and road runner shorts, other then that the most noticeable thing was the cut off ad for strawberry shortcake’s housewarming party
A fair take on the classic fairy tale by Ruby-Spears Animation, it hews much more closely to the original story than Disney's film and many other animated versions. The animation is on the poor side, as is typical for R-S cartoons, but the character designs are okay and it gets the story across well. I love seeing all the different takes of one story and how they compare and contrast. But it always bugs me that Beauty's nasty sisters never really get their comeuppance. Also, this one kind of undercuts its own message of "looking past what your eyes can see" when the Beast-turned-Prince says to Beauty that he was waiting for someone as beautiful as she to break the…
