Whenever asked to define what the horror genre is to me, I always refer to the works of Edgar Allen Poe, particularly his story the Sphinx. This is a story about a man who is stressed as everyone around him is dying of cholera. He retreats to a country home. There, while sitting at a window, he sees a huge monster running towards his cabin. He is stressed out of his mind, convinced this is a sign of his own imminent death. In the end it was merely a spider that was dangling a couple of inches in front of his eyes. His stressed mind created the monster, feeding his feeling of loss of control over the situation around him.…
Sure as hell isn’t Barbie of Swan Lake but it is most definitely a good ass movie.
Talked about this sucker on my podcast! Click here to uhhh listen!
the scene where nina pulls off her cuticle is the scariest scene in the history of cinema and will haunt me forever
After Climax, Suspiria and now this I’m convinced that dance related horrors/thrillers are like the best sub genre and I didn’t know about it until about three days ago why did no one tell me?
Natalie Portman just ran up to me, screamed “gay rights!” in my face then turned into a bird and flew away... I’m not kidding
honestly? WHERE is the prequel about Winona Ryder's rise and fall as a prima ballerina and her steamy and tempestuous affair with her dance director, Real Man Vincent Cassel?
not a single outfit natalie portman wears this whole movie makes any logical sense but i want all of them
I found a lot of points of interest in this movie yet the "fragil girl that is opressed by everyone but scores at the end" model is overused by now
one of the greatest joys in life is identifying the true source of a meme. so when miss natalie walked into the bathroom to wipe the word WHORE off of the mirror, i lost it. (to say i was freaking out about this movie from the start would be an understatement). the other greatest joy in life is natalie portman. i am still not over everything she did for this role. okayy miss harvard‼️
i don’t have to tell you how well this movie used the horror genre. they did almost no wrong - except for that scene where she pulls her hangnail all the way down her finger because that is actually my worst nightmare AH and for that, i dock a star
maybe there simply is no better film and we all just have to grow up and admit that
