Bruno, Brüno: Snipped, Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt
if election night doesn’t kill me, then this sacha baron cohen thirst-rewatch marathon will 🤒
the 2000s really were the Wild West of cinema and this was the peak
- Paula Abdul using Mexican men as furniture
- "King Osama looks like a dirty wizard or a homeless Santa Claus"
- ghost sex through a medium with Rob Pilatus from Milli Vanilli
- Brüno deciding to make a sex tape, interviews Ron Paul because he mistook him for RuPaul, tries to seduce him, and gets Ron Paul to call him a queer
- the mom of a child model saying she was okay with her kid getting liposuction and operating antiquated heavy machinery
- trading a U2 iPod for a black child and naming him OJ and losing him to child protective services
- carbocide
- a swingers party complete with a dominatrix
- getting the kid back for a MacBook Pro
“All the most famous stars: Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kevin Spacey. They all have one thing in common. They are all straight.”
I don’t know about that last one, chief.
I don't care what anyone says or what they thought of this. But I was in tears of laughter several times during this movie. Not as funny as Borat, but I still laughed my ass off during this movie.
“I am going to be the biggest Austrian celebrity since Hitler.”
Watching Sacha Baron Cohen embarrass morons is my new favorite hobby. This is a lot funnier than I remember.
I'm 99,9% sure that Sacha's penis can really do that.
And that 0,1% is just me being coy.
The cage match scene is probably more daring than anything in Borat, but Brüno is a character that is too annoying to endure for 80 minutes.
There is something many people do not understand about Borat and Bruno. They are caricatures, stereotypes who show the true faces and the hypocrisy of people, mostly American.
Yes, they are often crude, often times disgusting. But that would be taking away from the point of the film.
And dare I say, other than a few unnecessary penis shots, the film is incredibly funny. Not just because of Bruno's lines and actions (calling Mel Gibson "Der Fuhrer" is perhaps one the greatest lines I ever heard), but also because of the reactions he receives from people.
It is not scripted, and thus feels fresh and not forced.
I do believe Sacha Baron Cohen could have toned down some parts as I said, but overall it is close to being as great as Borat was.
Not as good or as engaging as Borat it it still has some solid commentary and jokes here and there.
It's VERY sexual, but it's funny. IDK if I prefer Borat or Brüno (as a movie, as a character I think that Borat is better).
slightly offensive from today’s perspective? yes maybe, but besides that just absolutely fucking hilarious and actually made me laugh out loud. sacha baron cohen is a comedic and improvisational genius
On s'entend : c'est pas incroyable cinématographiquement, mais je suis toujours absolument effrayé de voir que ce genre de personne (les vraies personnes documentées) existe. Joue vaguement entre le documentaire et la fiction.
The longer it goes on the better it gets.
Like holy fuck I’m surprised he’s not been killed by straight guys yet.
Best parts was the Middle East part and the cage fight
Got better as it went on - some the more extreme situations were funny just by their ridiculous nature but it also felt a bit abrasive at times and the broader character felt a bit one-dimensional.
