31 DAYS OF HORROR - Day 19, Part 2
Let's say you want to make a lasagna and you have all the right ingredients, but you don't know how to properly put them together. The result might be still eatable, but you would just wish you ordered one. That's kinda how "Captivity" feels. There are good moments in there, but mixed together, it doesn't quite work. It doesn't really manages to build up tension, because every time it tries to do, the main character just gets drugged again and everything starts again, which makes the movie repetitive fast. And the twist also feels so anticlimatic and dumb, because they just didn't took the time to create enough backstory and fleshed out characters.
Elisha Cuthbert really is the saving grave of this movie. I will always have a place for her in my horror heart, thanks to the very underrated "House of Wax" remake.
