you know what freud says about the nature of horror? he says that’s when the home becomes unhomelike. unheimlich. and that’s what this whole place has become. this whole time, and fuckin’ country and everything else. it’s unheimlich.
ari is king.
Ya know? If Ari Aster would like to... He could become the Jew Spike Lee... Or Spike Jonze... Or Spike Lee Jonze... Ari Spike Lee Jonze. That sounds about alright.
8 mins of great laughs and raw, social criticism.
That ending.... Hit me hard in the feels

Ari Aster prep 6/6
What a ride this has been. Some Ari observations:
1. This dude is weird as hell.
2. Either he's really fascinated by defective families, or he had a seriously effed up childhood
3. He takes what makes most people the most uncomfortable and does the most with it.
4a. Sometimes his shock value is effective in its restraint. It provokes investigation into the real issues he's exploring.
4b. Sometimes the shock value is shoveled on, suffocating any hopes of caring about a bigger idea.
5. Stunning cinematography and editing pretty much across the board. Especially how the music editing impeccably punctuates his comedy.
6. I'm v excited for Hereditary
George Carlin is alive and now he is a mixture of a hobo and Tyler Durden
They all got that self-satisfied grin all over their smug faces like they have just confirmed that they are the most impressive fucking thing in the world and you just got to bow your head and say god bless as if there isn't an actual exchange going on. Your bloated sense of self-worth is equal to the hole that's been ripped out of my dignity!
It’s official: Ari Aster can cover any & all types of horror
(& Iam officially caught up on his current filmography!)
Good framing and composition, good editing, good comedic timing, and a good central performance with a sobering message. It ain’t perfect, it’s a little preachy, but so far it’s the best Ari Aster short film I’ve seen.
Third short film by Ari that I watch in the sequence and I don't know how many stars to give, but I know that this guy is genius and crazy at the same time. Keep going, Ari!
Ari Aster Short Binge #7
Yeah, I don't know if the style of Basically really translated well to this subject. It's very sloppy to say the least.
Muy en la línea de Basically y quizás mejor que éste gracias a la fuerza de su protagonista, al estilo libre en las palabras y la potencia del discurso. Comedia negra con un toque que desgarra en su final.
Yep, I’m definitely a Ari Aster Fanboy and idk how I feel about this. The dick farts short was ass though, but this is great.
Dark and almost musical with how the dialogue is delivered along side the score.
