she might have ended up being a massive tory once she was older but there was a period in the 60s when cilla black was just a working class girl with a pure talent and that's captured wonderfully in this biopic. i always remember my grandad hated cilla black's singing voice but anyone who had a heart reminds me of my mum's mixtapes in the car when i was little and the song still gives me chills today.

Cilla is a superb miniseries boasting high production value, cogent writing and terrific performances from its three leading performers.

I thought this was a near-perfect portrayal of the early years of Cilla Black's career. The performances are wonderful, especially Sheridan Smith as Cilla Black. If you enjoy biopics and stories set in the world of entertainment, this is highly recommended.
