On the surface SILIP might seem like a sexploitation film but there’s something terrifyingly different underneath all the grinding going on in the remote countryside of Ilocos region.
DAUGHTERS OF EVE makes for an entertaining viewing, as Filipino director Elwood Pérez kept things unpredictable but also delivered a genuinely interesting story and some rather impressive compositions. Johnny Araojo's camera is very effective in how it pulls you into the dusty beach village. As far as the content of the film goes, there’s some strong stuff in here — full frontal erect male nudity, naked children, slaughtered animals, mass sexual assault, bloody violence, decapitation, murders and deaths by burning but the payoff…
