When it comes to writing, performances, plot type, and music/editing the continuity is impressive and really welcomed by me. Camera angles, shot choices, set design, and overall film quality were a lot different, even jarringly different compared to the series, but for me that is fine as a creative choice. A lot of changes come with 12+ years, especially film quality, and the rest of the experience was close enough to the original for me to see these changes as an enhancement rather than a distraction from the original world of Deadwood.
That being said, as far as Deadwood as a film goes, the plot was simple and for the most part really predictable, which also feels in line with the series.…
