david lynchs kids: aw you made a movie about what its like to be a dad?? can we see it?
david lynch: ....um
Funny how this film doesn't seem disturbing until you describe it to those who haven't seen it.
I have a big poster of this hanging in my dorm room and one time a boy from tinder came over and looked at it for a while and said "is that Niall Horan?"
Marrying early silent film comedy with gnostic body horror, Eraserhead is the sort of movie experience which everyone can probably relate to, even when they wish they could not. If you have been uncomfortable going over to your romantic partner's parents' house for dinner, if you dread the long walk home from the pencil factory, if you feel weird interacting with the neighbor across the hall with whom you would like to have or have had amorous intrigue with, if you would like to escape into the calming sounds emitted by the radiator, if you have just picked the new baby up from the hospital and don't know what to do now that it is really home and sitting on…
I watched this movie on my small ass iPod Touch screen, the way David Lynch intended.
4. Horror
Man, I hate it when my significant other invites me over for dinner and her father serves writing, bloody fowl and then her mother tries to smash face.
This is what happens when you drink a gallon of liquid LSD, get locked in a closet and are forced to listen to 12 hours of Doom Metal.
sheesh. Drew what'd you see in this movie?
I feel like I'm missing something,
I get that it's an important piece of cinema, but this bih flew over my head.
Eraserhead is visually and audibly stunning. The sound editing, use of lighting in the black and white, and the set design is simply brilliant. Going into this I knew that Lynch is known for his uniquely disturbing visuals and confusing and mindbending plots so I knew somewhat, what to expect. Especially after my first experience of his, through Blue Velvet. This film featured all of that and even a mutant baby! Yet I throughly enjoyed it. It’s become clear to me that I love confusing, weird and wonderful films more than most. There is just one thing I don’t understand; why is his head to hair ratio almost 50:50? Like, it should be 80:20 or 70:30. No wonder his baby came out like that. Just wrong.
‘Oh you are sick!’ ~ Yeah no shit, he looks like a goddamn human fish.
Shoutout to the woman in the radiator.
