I feel like everyone needs to know that Riz Ahmed executive produced this. There's also a long title slide at the beginning of the movie that simply reads: "This is a true story."
Striking doesn't even begin to cover how incredibly poignant this movie is. The animation style spliced with real life footage from the Soviet-Afghan War and refugee detainment centers is shocking but keeps the story grounded to the realities of corruption in the name…
