Szalinski, give it a rest, it's Saturday!
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is one of those movies that I watched a whole bunch growing up with my siblings on long car rides during vacation trips; very nostalgic.
It's a fun, simple premise that doesn't take itself too seriously. I love the production design of the front yard brought to a massive scale and the utilization of practical effects - although some green screen elements are poorly dated.
Rick Moranis is always a charm, and I wonder if the character of Russell Thompson was initially supposed to be portrayed by Jim Carrey. Matt Frewer, the actor portraying him, definitely embodies the energetic acting style.
Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't mind that they're rebooting this, especially since Rick Moranis and Joe Johnston, the director, are returning.
