La chica que amaba a los caballos
the experience of watching this was like if I was watching unicorn store but the entire movie there was a sniper perched just outside my window ready to take me out at any point I don’t know when it’ll be and I don’t know if I’m imagining it so I just continue to watch the movie and not make eye contact but I’m really on edge
Netflix
Alison Brie's first screenplay is ambitious and original. There is a massive tone shift throughout, but I was hooked the entire time. A lot of people seem to be rating this badly because it "doesn't know what it wants to be" but I disagree. I think it just wants to be a bunch of different things, and I'm here for it.
The characters started out as being instantly lovable, but what is at first an entertaining comedy slowly reveals all sorts of different layers of awesomeness. Its also a drama, sci fi, and a bit of an art film. Its like a paranoid schizophrenic Napoleon Dynamite.
I also don't feel it was trying to offer any sort of commentary…
I don't know what this film wanted to be. Not even sure that the creative minds behind this knew it either. It was too shallow and weird to make for a truly compelling story. I was trying to figure out what the hell this movie's aim is, but I don't know I will ever get an answer to that question...Overall a massive disappointment, because the premise had potential.

SYNOPSIS: Sarah, a socially isolated woman with a fondness for arts and crafts, horses, and supernatural crime shows finds her increasingly lucid dreams trickling into her waking life.
Horse Girl is an achingly sad movie. In the first act of the film, I found the character development to be beautifully executed and I was rooting for Sarah. I was originally thinking that the film would slowly progress into an offbeat rom-com and was really surprised when it didn't. It's got a dark side to it.
It seems that…
okay, but have you ever sat across from a nurse in a hospital and had to answer the question, "if you were going to kill yourself how would you do it?" the aloneness that this movie conveyed, combined with the acceptance of that aloneness.. i cried. sure it's scattered, as our minds often are. and it's definitely not something that translates into everyone's language - it doesn't even totally make sense to me. mEanwHiLe..
it somehow does. an anamolous mind can lead to time loss, to lucid dreams, to the relentless pursuit of explanations so desperate that, exasperated, somehow accepts any resolution that fits a plausible narrative.
thank you alison brie 🍑 💕
(magical realism mission)
tik tok really ruined my life, i couldn't watch any debby ryan scenes without trying to smile like her in radio rebel
I didn’t question Alison Brie’s performance for a second, I can’t remember a performance that made me forget I was watching a movie like this one. (Thrown off by some of the ending more surreal scenes straight into reality but props to Alison)
Esta peli es rara de cojones pero me ha gustado. Ni siquiera podría explicar por qué me ha gustado pero he estado pegado a la pantalla con mi madre fascinado por ver cómo iba avanzando la cosa.
Duuuuuuuuude what a trip jajajajajaja
