Do you ever think about how Shane Black made a movie grappling with his years in Freudian analysis that was also part of a superhero franchise
Please point me in the direction of more superhero films which deal with trauma, and/or post-traumatic stress.
Marvel’s ambitious Phase Two begins with a confident bang as Tony Stark returns for his latest solo outing. After the phenomenal success of The Avengers it was always going to be interesting to see how these individual stories, away from the world destroying peril and star-studded team-up would fair, and despite numerous references to the New York showdown in Whedon’s movie it is reassuring that neither Stark, nor the audience, really miss the other superheroes.
After the indulgent mess that was Iron Man 2 it is good to see the self-proclaimed genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist back in fine fettle. The decision to hand over the reins to writer-director, Shane Black, has paid off handsomely as this is a bold,…
This is a Christmas film right? It takes place at Christmas and has all the decorations...yes, yes it’s a Christmas film now.
Iron Man 3 has always been a rather mixed bag for me. Directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley and Ty Simpkins, the story follows Tony Stark, as his world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin. For all the film's flaws, Black brings enough to the table that it's far from a chore to watch, but the twists and turns the story takes has always divided fans and for me, has never had the impact that was intended.
Robert Downey…
I loved that we get to see an Iron man movie, that is focused more on Tony Stark and his problems. This movie is an improvement over Iron man 2. Great CGI and fun actions and I just had a great time watching it. I don't understand why people hate this movie so much.

Tony Stark is having difficulties adjusting to life after the events he experienced in the previous Super Friends aka Avengers movie. He can't sleep. His relationship with Pepper is salty and on the rocks. Plus, he's suffering extreme anxiety attacks. He's hit rock bottom, and only a crazy loony loco terrorist, can get him back in the saddle again.
You can tell there's a new writer and director. When Tony goes to Miami, the movie screams, "Shane Black!" The humor in the dialogue, the crazy twists, the buddy action, and the sudden violence. I ain't gonna lie; the action is fun as fuck. I love the way Favreau directed Iron Man, but I had a blast watching Shane do his…
Marvel's Cinematic Phase 2 starts with a bang. Or maybe a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as despite being part of the multi-billion dollar franchise Iron Man 3 is most definitely a Shane Black film.
I won't say much as the less you know the more you will enjoy it.
For once the trailers have kept most of the plot under wraps but this sees Tony Stark going back to basics. Robert Downey Jnr. has the brash persona down to a tee and Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley have fun with the villain roles. Also it goes without saying but make sure you stay until the end of the credits.
A huge improvement over the mediocre second installment, this is the best Iron Man movie yet.
I like movie Iron Man a lot more than comic book Iron Man. I have never found it to be a particularly interesting hero, but the kinetic brilliance Robert Downey Jr. gave the character won me over after the first film. The second film was a bloated mess, but Iron Man was one of the main reasons I had a complete and utter blast with the Avengers. And now, in this third instalment, with Downey Jr. doing what he does best and doing it really well, the true star of this film is given ample time to shine. Mr. Shane Black, ladies and gentlemen, shows he can direct a big blockbuster with apparent ease, confidence and originality. The only downside…
Very good.
'Iron Man 3' offers an entertaining 130 minutes. I enjoyed seeing the plot unfold, it isn't anything revolutionarily fresh but it's done in a way that's interesting to watch. The score and effects are great.
Robert Downey Jr. continues to be a lot of fun as the lead, while Don Cheadle is more enjoyable than he is in 'Iron Man 2'. Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley are good to watch too, the latter amused me more than I thought he would.
I'd rank this higher than the 2010 sequel, though it's still a fair distance off the original. This 2013 film leaves a positive impression.

Although this may be one of the most divisive MCU films, I truly believe through the awesome directorial style of Shane Black, we get one of the most personal and best character MCU films so far. 'Iron Man 3' may not top the original film, but it is definitely leagues better than 'Iron Man 2'. This film does a lot of things right with the character of Tony Stark mainly. Black manages to build upon his character very well. Before, most saw Iron Man as the cocky but funny superhero within the MCU, but this film instills a lot of heart in him, and it's from within this film,…
The third and final outing for Tony Stark in his solo Iron Man movies is a fitting end to the excellent series. Like most superhero comic fans I have a lot of love for this movie and a few niggles. The story may be set during the Christmas holiday but this is not full of the joy of the festive season. It’s a blockbuster, super hero movie with a lot more fun and action than the last Iron Man outing. This movie closes out the series with one of the most impressive superhero actions scenes ever.
The things I love about this film is that whilst, it does deal with Tony’s Post Traumatic Stress from the Avengers Battle of New…
I still like this film more than most do. I've never read the comics so I have no attachment to what the villain is supposed to be, and don't mind the twist at all.
I enjoy a lot of what this film does. The focus on Tony's issues are great. I love the scenes with the kid and I mostly like the storyline throughout. I also just find this one super watchable.
I get why people don't like the third act, which is the weakest part although I'm not the biggest hater of it. There's also one subplot that should have either been cut or been given more explanation as to why it was happening.
But I am a big…
