"You know, they say the greatest conversation you'll ever have is with a stranger?"
"Who says that?"
"Some useless cunt."
London is a movie that feels very much like a play. About 90% of it takes place in the nicest, biggest, fucking bathroom that I've ever seen in Becca's parents' house in NYC. The bathroom has a balcony, for crying out loud. It's here that Syd (Chris Evans) and Bateman (Jason Statham) do mass amounts of coke off a Van Gogh painting situated on the counter and have angry, philosophical conversations between themselves and the young women who come in there to relieve themselves and partake in some cocaine. Most of these conversations are in some way about London (Jessica…
A film for the open-minded. Some people like it and some don't. Well, I liked it. Two guys (Chris Evans and Jason Statham), who don't know each other, end up on a party using huge amounts of coke (only Charlie Sheen can handle that much.) They tell their whole lifestory, way of looking into the world and the problems they have (Jason Statham impotent and Chris Evans wants to have Jessica Biel back, which is leading in the movie). They both have a breakthrough (due to the drugs) and get rid off their "old" sores. A movie full of the word "fuck", anecdotes and motto's. It made me smile throughout the whole movie. Just for Edwin Kalkman. A great movie.
The majority of this movie is spent with the two main characters doing a scarface amount of cocaine in the bathroom and telling stories mainly about London a chick not the place. The dialogue is not exactly Tarintino good but its pretty well written. Chris Evans comes off as whiney but to me that's what made his character believable. Just love Jason Stahams accent when he isn't trying to hide it like in all his other movies, he totally lets it go in this one. Jessica Biel is a little annoying but maybe its because I never thought she was that good I don't think she is terrible she just isn't good. Not sure if saying this movie is underrated is accurate because nobody really watched it not sure where this even came from because it took me 3 years to discover it but man im glad I did.
watched as part of a bad movie night. described to me as "famous people before they became famous doing a lot of drugs and yelling." exactly as described.
The movie can be summed up just from its primary setting, a toilet. It's full of nasty people being crude and totally unlikable. It's hard to care for the protagonist, who is so unbelievably nasty and spiteful.
Throughout this film, I had a feeling it was written by a first-timer and turns out I was right. The dialogue can be so pretentious and it feels completely fake for these set of characters to be spurting out such complex life predicaments. For example, the scantily dressed blonde, who is snorting cocaine, starts giving a philosophical argument about the existence of god at one point. Sure, drugs get your mind working faster than usual, but the specifics she says are so thought…
In this movie, Jason Statham has more lines, more emotion, and more hair than in all his other movies combined.
(At least, of all the movies I've seen him in.)
Chris Evans is playing that annoying guy everyone knows who took a class once and forever after spouts off bullshit he thinks is intellectual. He even has all the generic tattoos you'd expect from such a self-important idiot.
Also, this is not an action movie. There's a fight scene that lasts like a minute. I know it has Jason Statham, but that doesn't make this an action movie. This is a break-up movie with lots of yelling and drugs, and for some reason Jessica Biel gets undressed a lot.
The first new watch of 2021 also sets the bar for new watches low enough that I'd be surprised if anything surpasses it for awhile. A grotesquely self-satisfied movie, the only purpose it serves is to put Hunter Richards' wretched dialogue and adolescent views of religion and relationships on a pedestal for you to admire. The main actors, in the absence of any characters to play, approach the dialogue like they're doing loud acting-class exercises; Statham comes closest to making it work (even though his role is just a playground joke about cinema's toughest badass being a pathetic, impotent cuck), but Evans and Biel are floundering in ways that almost makes you feel bad for them. Joy Bryant and Kelli…
the acting between chris evans and jason statham was so damn good in this that it would actually be fucked up if i gave this movie less than 3 stars......y’all i don’t even have anything funny to say this time around like chris evans is just a good ass actor???? what the fuck??????????
The true novelty of this film is seeing Chris Evans ACTUALLY ACTING! That alone is worth your time. And seeing Jason Statham trying to ignore the fact that he is wearing a comb-over rug is a hoot, too.

fucking terrible. HOWEVER if i could go back to two hours ago, before i watched it, i still would’ve watched it because chris evans is hot as fuck
6.0/10
Statham in a movie with only one minor fight scene. A bit surprising. A film about the abuse of the word "love" and a glimpse into what life looks like to a set of rather flawed characters (a bunch of rich city kids). Acting above par for the most part. Plot is not particularly interesting and its themes explored rather cursorily. The resolution is shallow and not satisfying.
Good film for those who miss mid aughts dramas with a modest budget set in New York City.
Linklater worship at a grade school level.
Being tortured by The Jigsaw Killer would be more fun than being in the presence of any single character in this movie.
