Frick people who tell others what to do or be or how to live. Martha rocks.
The effects in this are real good for a short film, making a monster costume emotive is no small feat but these guys pulled it off.
You know what you want but it's not what you need. Nobody else can choose that for you; nobody else can force it. Nobody else should determine your narrative. It has to be you.
A story of attempted assimilation.
A tad rushed but stunning creature design and puppetry/animation in conjuction with Rose Byrne's tender performance make this highly recommended.
Story: 3/5. A charming story that is a bit haphazard but ultimately very rewarding.
Visuals: 4/5. The puppet work is genuinely impressive and is the heart of this short.
Sound: 3/5. Nothing outstanding but very appropriate.
10/15: It's funny and fun, worth the few minutes it requires.
This is the sweetest fucking thing. I mean, it's heartbreaking and it takes you through every range of emotion but it's incredibly well made. The monster's are so lifelike and it really tells a complete story. It also gives an interesting if quite obvious insight in to the "human condition" as it were: people are pricks.
It's great to see that acceptance and that confidence grow for and in people though and this truly was lovely to watch happen. For a short this was outstanding. Hell, compared to a feature film this was outstanding.
I watched it here.
Incredibly creative and visually impressive with some memorable characters and scenarios.

triste demais. só dei uma risadinha literalmente na última cena disso. se essa foi a intenção, parabéns aos envolvidos
I was very impressed by the visuals and I liked the cute story. However I didn't find the very obvious allegory to the African American experience helpful. I don't doubt that the director had good intentions, however having monsters as a stand in for African Americans is more than just a little tone deaf. But I am probably the wrong person to judge.
