imagine this movie being remade in 2100 or something, the owen wilson of the future would hella go to future paris, run into a white peugeot 207 in midnight, go back in time to 2019, meet beyoncé and be like "beyoncé?!"
this is such a beautiful film why the fuck did it have to be written and directed by one of the vilest men on earth woody fucking allen damn it
My first Woody Allen movie since Mighty Aphrodite. It will be another 20 years before I try him again. Hopefully one of us is dead by then.
How many movies does Rachel McAdams play in that she dating/married to a time traveler?
can woody allen stop jerking off to himself long enough to write a script that doesn't sound like bad fan fiction written by a 15 year old
Wherein the stand-in for Woody Allen is praised by all the greatest writers of all time and three women fall in love with him.
I can't help but stay tuned to Woody Allen's films despite many disappointments in the past and feeling a little over his love affair with NY.
I'm glad I stuck with him. I had so much light hearted fun with this, with all of the indulgence, the hideously comical characters (Inez and Paul), Owen Wilson being Owen Wilson, that ridiculously long intro, seeing beloved authors and artists played by actors like Kathy Bates and Adrien Brody. Allen just went for it and so earnestly.
My friend likes to remind me that I giggled my way through this, which is very unlike me but damn did it feel good.
I'm still pretty surprised by the bad reviews of this film, and…
Feel pretty guilty supporting woody allen, but I forget how good it feels to watch a fantastical movie. I’m also happy that the main character was Owen Wilson and not some boring handsome romantic dude
Midnight In Paris (2011) is a good film with a great cast. Unfortunally the plot is extremely lacklustre. The film drags out and is extremely slow. The best part is the cast as they all fit their roles perfectly. 4/10
This was a really great, charming movie. The mysticism of Paris is shown very well, as it seems Woody Allen is always able to display cities in an amazing way. I feel a lot of sympathy for Owen Wilson’s character, and Marion Cotillard is also really good in this. I do wish some of the secondary characters (specifically that of Rachel McAdams) weren’t so arrogant, and also that the first act was as good as the next two, but overall, this was pretty damn awesome.
Lol I started this movie at 12:07 in the morning, close enough to MIDNIGHT.
When I first saw this movie, I didn't like the ending.
WTF WAS WRONG WITH ME??? THAT ENDING RULES! I understand it now and I appreciate it even more on rewatch.
How did I give this 4/5 stars the first time? I don't know what I was thinking.
This is in my top 10 favourite films now.
I have no single flaw with this film. It's as close to perfect as a movie can get.
Owen Wilson makes me sleepy but in a good way. Dialogue was so not-good that we kind of wondered if that was on purpose?
Enjoyable and entertaining, if inessential and a little disposable. The characterisation, or rather caricaturisation, of everyone in the present is rather weak, but the scenes set in the past are sumptuous, both visually and in terms of dialogue, especially for someone familiar enough with the figures being depicted to understand the litany of references.
That being said, "we should be happy to live in the present rather than longing for romanticised visions of the past" is a rather hilarious message coming from someone who is fucking their ex-partner's daughter.
The relation that this movie establishes with the lost generation is very good. That’s one of the movies that just Woody Allen could have thought: a incredible journey through the centuries with some of the greatest writers of the world.
