Alec Baldwin's delivery of the line "Hunt is the living manifestation of destiny" is among the best line readings of all time, and that is canon.
Rogue Nation is one of the best action movies ever and my favourite film in the franchise. Christopher McQuarrie brings the spycraft back with the best script. flawless momentum, the perfect balance between story & action with with lots of great setpieces. Loved the homages to Hitchcock, Alan Pakula and other 70's classics. Also it the only MI movie not to end with a big set-piece, there's hardly any big action scene in the final 50 minutes. Hunt stops the villain by memorising thousands of bank account numbers. This movie understands that Hunt is total maniac.
The sound editing is top notch, especially in the opera sequence - the way the music was blending perfectly with the sound of the action. And Rebecca Ferguson is so incredible and she can dominate me any day.

A smashing, invigorating, and joyful piece of gritty film-making, Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is a spectacular showcase for Tom Cruise's continuing dynasty as a movie star and a riveting spy film in its own right. Grounded by dazzling direction, exceptionally strong performances, and a mysterious story, the film is a near-flawless mix of De Palma's otherworldly mood and Bird's pulse-pounding flair.
MI 5 is both a welcome and unexpected installment, mainly because of its addition of a disquieting aura of danger and a sustained spark of sinister espionage. The story, involving a spooky terrorist group, never falls into a common trap of alleviating the menace between the characters and their most-recent threat. Every scene and every…
No mission is impossible, right? Well, super duper secret agent, Ethan Hunt, doesn't think so. His team has been tracking the baddest of the baddies for a very long time. From all corners of the globe, the baddies keep coming, and Ethan never quits. His tactics might be a tad bit controversial, but he gets results. When an underground terrorist group threatens to literally take over the world, Ethan and the gang race into action. But, the good ole CIA wants to shut them down, so Ethan must do what he does best; he goes rogue. MI5 is popcorn action with a pinch of cleverness. It's fun, exciting, and an enjoyable big screen experience.

You'd think that a franchise that began nineteen years ago, that's five films in, and starring a now 53-year-old leading man would finally begin to show it's wear. That is fortunately not the case with the Mission: Impossible series, as Rogue Nation is yet another kick-ass entry and continues the streak of compelling and impressive action cinema - to a great extent thanks to Tom Cruise, who is apparently still game for anything.
casting jeremy renner and alec baldwin is bad enough, but putting both of them in the same frame MULTIPLE times?? unforgivable
A weird, baroque piece of pop almost as good as the original, and the ultimate Tom Cruise superhero self-actualization. Near the end of this movie he looks into the camera and says "Without me, you're nothing."
they really resolve these movies in 5 minutes after TWO HOURS of fucking around like ethan hunt rode on the outside of a PLANE and got fucking LAUNCHED ACROSS EUROPE but then at the end they were like o lol YEET and put solomon lane in a funko pop box. the antics.
This movie rules and unfortunately the greatest single moment is not the plane or the box or the dive but the camera push when Alec Baldwin literally gasps and says "Hunt!" the same way he says "Lemon"
Why do the stunts look real? Because they are real!
I have a treadmill in my room. I don't remember the last time that I got on it and had a good sweaty run. Last year, not only did I binge watch some of television's absolute best namely, The Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Sopranos, Sherlock and several others, but simultaneously had also indulged in some joyous albeit unmindful binge eating. This included irresistible midnight munching too, to appease the hunger caused by the marathon watch nights that would often extend into the wee hours of the morning. I used to sleep when the birds started chirping. It was wonderful. It was a sumptuous season of cloying and showering my foodie/artful…

Needed a stronger villain—Sean Harris serves up a generically effete cipher, and I spent most of his scenes wistfully recalling the manic energy Philip Seymour Hoffman brought to the third installment. And there's no setpiece here to rival Burj Khalifa, though obviously not for lack of trying. (Opening cargo-plane stunt, while undeniably ballsy, is so basic that the marketing campaign made its inclusion in the actual film superfluous.) All the same, this franchise remains improbably sturdy—Woo's entry is the sole clunker, and even it has some indelible moments. McQuarrie, surprisingly, wrote the screenplay like a director, which is to say that he largely subordinated complex narrative intrigue to possibilities for visual dynamism, and then executed those ideas remarkably well.…
Out of all the franchises that are circulating in Hollywood at present, Mission: Impossible series is possibly the only one that has continued to defy the weariness that sets in once a few sequels of any franchise are out in the market. While the first two chapters were inherently weak, the third instalment provided the necessary boost this series needed and that momentum carried on to the fourth one, which in my opinion is the most balanced entry in this saga, thus far.
And now, we have a new one! Using the rogue agent formula of Mission: Impossible as the basis for its plot, lifting a key action segment from Mission: Impossible II & enhancing it to deliver a smashing sequence,…
Flawless screenplay & direction by Christopher McQuarrie. This raises the bar what this franchise is capable of & its thrilling to experience. Perfect balance between story & action, always moving onto the next set piece efficiently. Probably the most edge of your seat opening in the Mission Impossible franchise with Tom Cruise hanging on the side of an actual plane. The opera sequence was amazingly stylish & suspenseful with the sound design & editing. Aided fantastically with Robert Elswit’s cinematography. Alec Baldwin was a great addition but Rebecca Ferguson just owns this movie. She’s terrific & would love for her to ruin my life.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation might be tied for my favorite with Mission: Impossible Fallout but looking at it overall this might be the best film in the franchise.
You'll never believe it but I wasn't the one who suggested watching this film this evening!
i stand by almost everything i wrote in my first review of rogue nation, but i think i’m now convinced it edges out ghost protocol. ilsa and lane just make this film. lane in particular stands out in comparison to hendricks in ghost protocol, who felt very lackluster on my last rewatch. the opera sequence is still a standout and the seamless transitions from the underwater heist to the car chase to the motorcycle chase is the kind of stuff this franchise really excels at
Not anywhere near as good as the previous installment, but still pretty enjoyable.
Ethan hangs from the outside of a freaking airplane as it takes off at a 180 km/h, reaching an altitude of 1,500 km before the plot even begins. And the rest of the film is just as good.
Benji shines once again. Ilsa is a great addition to the team. Very happy they continued with her character.
This is one of my favorite action movies and everything a summer blockbuster could be.
Just amazing. Every scene with Rebecca Ferguson is stunning, and her chemistry with Hunt is great.
That glass box at the end is one of the most satisfying moments in any movie.
