One of the finest animated films to have come out during the Disney Renaissance Era, Mulan unquestionably holds up as an immensely enjoyable & brilliantly crafted piece of work that notably remains as delightful as ever in just about every way, and certainly still resonates with both the young & old to this day.

The film itself handles 'Mulan's' compelling story with well-defined detail, & most of the distinct characters in this are absolutely memorable, although the villain probably could've been explored slightly more.

Even then, that aspect doesn't particularly undermine the film all that much as everything else pretty much works. The rich animated looks that this possesses is without a doubt stunning, each of the musical numbers here were quite impressive, and the genuine humor & wit all around truly was downright charming.

Apparently, you can discuss the subject of concubines in a G-rated movie? Good to know!

Pretty good. I think it's a really well-told story, but the comedy doesn't always land for me and the villain, while really menacing, is so disconnected from the hero that it's hard to get invested in them. As a musical, this one is kinda weird; there are less songs than usual, which I guess is owed to the more serious, war-like tone. But still, it kinda feels like there's something missing from this one compared to the other Renaissance films.

Also they didn't have to go that hard with I'll Make a Man Out of You but they did and it slaps

Liked this a whole lot more on a revisit, only my second time seeing it.

Simply gorgeous, Disney really went all out with the new 4K, plus some terrific action and songs. Still not the biggest fan of Mushu, but I get it, he's super fun and Eddie Murphy is great in the part. That said, Lucky Cricket is my favorite. Also that panda gag? All-timer. 

Legit great stuff that I'm already itching to watch again.

La vi hace unos meses con motivo del estreno del live action y ahora he vuelto a ella. Y con cada revisionado confirmo que no comparto la pasión desbordada y extendida por esta película, pero tiene muchos elementos que me gustan. De partida, es muy atractiva la historia de subversión de la protagonista ante un sistema patriarcal brutal y su desacato al rol de género que le imponen. El humor funciona bien en general (en gran parte gracias a Mishu) y las canciones son preciosas.
Pero siento que le falta épica y un mejor desarrollo de la relación entre "Kim" y Li Shang en la etapa previa a que se descubra la verdad.
En fin, me gusta más en fondo que en forma. Tambalea entre el 6 y el 7 para mí.

So, I was kind of a snob, purist, overly girly girl as a kid and only watched the really old Disney movies and the really princess-y ones. Friends keep pestering me about the “classic” 90s movies. 

Didn’t see Lion King until I was 17. 
Overrated.
Didn’t see Tarzan until 19. 
It was okay. 

But now, at age 25, I’ve finally succumbed to watching Mulan, and I have to grudgingly admit, that was damn good. Would watch again. Would watch with future children. Would speak enthusiastically about if the circumstance arose. Small nostalgic twinge of regret that I only ever saw the previews for it before The Little Mermaid and never watched the actual movie.

I don’t remember this one from my childhood. I watched the remake fresh and enjoyed it, so I was shocked to realize how much more amazing this one was. The writing, the use of color... my goodness this is a masterpiece.
