The second entry's best attribute is the static shots setup around the house where the audience has an incessant need to scan every crevasse of the picture for something out of place.
In the words of Mysterio, the filmmakers just thought 'You know what? Double the damage.' The house is bigger, there's more characters and more ambitious found footage filmmaking. It's less simple but ultimately it's the exact same movie as the first in regards to structure and story beats.
It can feel a little ham-fisted but I think they did a good enough job with connecting the story to the events of the first film. There really are some creepy moments, mostly taking place in a nursery as you are waiting anxiously for something to happen.
The best performances that the filmmakers got out of the cast were from the baby and the dog lol.
I can think of plenty found footage films that are worse than this.
