Short and sweet with some really nice colour. Overall, it’s not a bad way to kill 13 minutes.
Thanks to Gemma Lyon for turning me on to this silly bit of fun.
This is a comic short based on the infamous conspiracy theory that Paul McCartney died in 1966 and The Beatles, keen to keep the news under wraps, employed a look(and sound)alike from that point onwards, but decided to leave clues about 'real' Paul's fate for their most loyal fans; such as in McCartney turning his head away from the camera in the Sgt Pepper gatefold, holding his cigarette in his right hand and walking barefoot along the crossing on Abbey Road's sleeve, and run-out grooves said to contain messages relaying the truth when played backwards.
Paul is Dead riffs on the iconoclastic imagery of the Fab…
This was too funny and surprisingly cinematic lol. Where did they get these actors, they look alike, especially John and Paul (ahem sorry, Billy Shears). I enjoyed every second of this lol
THE BEATLES-ATHON #19: Paul Is Dead

(Minor spoilers ahead!)
This was recommended to me by my media teacher pre-lockdown. She liked showing us (our Media class) those Short of the Week videos to help us gain inspiration for when we make our own projects, which is a great idea. Since we're all in lockdown, I thought this was a good opportunity to watch it. The temptation was too strong, I couldn't wait any longer!
Despite not being a fan of the "Paul is Dead" theory, I still admire the hard work and heart put into the short. The sheer quality and the simple yet driven narrative behind the film were surprisingly effective. It made it look like something that…
Something very attractive about this short. The costumes & production, the performances, the directing: all coming together to form a sweet and soulful tribute to one of the greatest, if not the greatest band of all time.
Great film which fully utilises an under-utilised medium.
Brilliant dialog, very funny, I only wish it was longer.
"Now you're back to Mother Earth, you fucking hippy twat."
Surprisingly well-done for something I randomly stumbled onto while looking at conspiracy theories on Wikipedia (which I do very often) and which is effectively just a single 10-minute joke.
"I've got a mantra for you-- fuck off!
at least they buried him in the heart of the country eh?
I came across the trailer on a whim. In the midst of a binge of George Harrison's music videos, the trailer caught my eye. An obscure little short from 2018 mocking the "Paul is Dead" conspiracy theory? I gotta see where this goes.
The director, George Moore, based in London, has a background in making music videos. And this is evident in the overwhelming style this short is filled with. Right down to the colour grading and aspect ratio, this pays such loving tribute to Beatles music videos of old (specifically the Sgt. Pepper music videos). So much detail is packed into making this an adorably fun little sea of references dotted about this short- to the kaleidoscope effects and…
Watching this at the recommendation of Emma (the non-Kearney one) and after reading her review made me concerned that 1. She has never seen A Hard Day’s Night or 2. She doesn’t think it is absolutely hilarious. This may come to affect our friendship.
I watch a lot of shortfilms on YouTube and Vimeo when I feel like watching a movie but don't have the attention span for a full length film. Out of all these shorts I've watched, this is my all-time favorite and 100% reccomend it to Beatles fans. The cinematography and story is so good even someone who knows nothing about the Beatles could enjoy it.
