I find it difficult to express how much I LOVE this film!!
Is it better than the original? Probably not.
Is it emotionally manipulative? Yep.
Is it the most re-watchable instalment of the Rocky franchise? Definitely.
Is Clubber Lang one of the best bad guys in cinema history? Absolutely.
EYE OF THE TIGER, BABY!!

Matt Singer had it right, after all: This is the best of the Rocky sequels, a satisfying blend of superhero cartoonishness (Clubber Lang, Thunderlips, etc.) and residual "authentic" feeling from the first film. Great montages, greater short shorts.

a total blast, slickly zeroing in on its formula, but it fails to notice that it's a simple reversal of the first one, with Rocky oblivious to his privilege while a younger, hungrier fighter comes after him. if only Clubber had been an even remotely fleshed-out character instead of a bogeyman. there's no reason to play him as an asshole except to protect Stallone's vanity (he even condescendingly tells Clubber, "You got a big mouth.") and so this has the unfortunate feeling of being the one where Rocky has to struggle to remain humble while he learns how to fight like a black man.

COME ON ROCKY!!!! (But getting a bit worse each time). God bless Carl Weathers.

"Eye of the Tiger."

Rocky III is a great film. Not as legendary as the first two, but still amazing. I like how Clubber Lang (Mr. T) played and portrayed him as cocky and vicious. Shows Rocky's fighting spirit. A new ground breaker to the first two films, more action packed, with emotional content. The boxing choreography between Sylvester Stallone and Mr. T is iconic and energetic. The "Never Giving Up" part of the film is one of the best parts and it's so motivating. Overall, it's an excellent installment to one of the greatest film series of all time.

Mr. T may be somewhat of a jokey association with the 80s (at least with the ninja bacon mustache crowd), but give the man some credit: His persona is so strong that in this, his first feature film, he's given maybe a cumulative 3-minutes of screentime to speak, and he crafts a character that is very well defined and memorable. Some actors can't do that with 150 minutes.

Also worth noting the audience I watched this with was really jamming on the homoerotic undertones between Rocky and Apollo Creed.

the similarities i mentioned in the second one that kinda replicates the original to a certain degree. that is well fully carbon copy right here. besides a very upbeat music track led by the universal workout song by Survivor, sly encompassing himself more in the role to flesh out cinema’s rising underdog and a very well directed entry. it just finally succumbs to threequel exhaustion. but it’s still a decent watch just not as legendary as the original and not expanding as the second but in terms of boxing it’s all good adrenaline testosterone fun

This one is very interesting. Introduces campiness which when I think about it in its know right, is entertaining but took me a little bit to get used while watching. This is the first time I’m delving into the sequels and I am very used to the first ROCKY but there are still a lot of moments which I liked and thought were fun in this film.

Alright, this is where the franchise is starting to feel a little tired. The antagonists are goofy and hard to take seriously. Rocky’s character fell short for me as well. He just felt flat and uninteresting. Not the same heart and soul that was in the OG Rocky. First dud in the series so far, and I’ve heard it only gets worse from here.

forever one of my favorite films. i can watch it many times every year. i even watch it while working out some times.

Apollo teaming up with Rocky was a great move for the franchise. 

The first Rocky film made in the 80s and it shows. Good mindless entertainment.

The Epilogue scene with Rocky and Creed was totally set to porn music and I thought for sure they were gonna kiss...

It's incredible that they introduce Clubber Lang during the opening credits montage... Not sure if that counts as good filmmaking but it oozes confidence in that the audience is going to be in board no matter what for what follows.

Overall this is a sillier, much more meta version of Rocky. Even the marching band knows the theme song from the movie Rocky! It's not as good as the first two as a movie, but it's still fun, and Mr. T is really great as Clubber Lang.

As I set out rewatching these I really wasn't sure which ones I've actually seen... Just the first one and Rocky Balboa but as a life long fan of Mr. T, I'm sure I MUST have seen this as a kid.
