I'm ashamed to admit, but I watched this for the first time two nights ago.
It is unbelievable.
I added it to my queue when Letterboxd shared their list of movies for Pride month because it piqued my interest, I thought, "but really, a big studio movie in 1948, how gay can it be?" And I was pleasantly surprised!
The long takes, the set, the matte painting trade-outs, the performances, the controlled moves of the camera, the reveals, the ending, all incredible.

Quizá sea una sensación recurrente en la filmografía de Hitchcock, pero uno creer estar viendo la mejor película de la todos los tiempos cuando ve Rope por primera vez. Esperaremos el rewatch, pero la genialidad de la cámara en los largos planos secuencia, bien acompañada por actuaciones casi todas excelentes (aquí me permito una disgresión: el personaje “asustado” del par criminal está, en mi opinión, ligeramente sobreactuado, en tanto a la ya fuerte presencia de su compañero y, sobre todo, la magnitud del grandísimo Jimmy Stewart) y sumado esto a un guión de la gran puta nos da como resultado una película de un ritmo atroz, una hora y veinte de sensaciones fortísimas.
