in today’s world this feels like a familiar story, echoing both fiction like sharp objects and real stories like gypsy rose blanchard, but that familiarity doesn’t make it any less potent here. i was skeptical, not wanting to indulge this worn out plot that seemingly exists only to mystify and thrill able bodied audiences. but i’m excited to say that’s not exactly what i found in this case
my first discovery here was that newcomer kiera allen acts circles around sarah paulson. the latter is clearly the selling point, her name all over the advertising in big bold letters, “look at sarah paulson go, look at her cry, look at her scream”, fleshing out the kind of sadistic and melodramatic…
good social awareness by the director, he knew that the “no internet connection” sign alone would mortify us to death.
Cant believe our god lord and saviour Sarah Catharine Paulson gave us her best acting impersonation as a young Kathy Bates in this prequel of Misery (1990). Giving us also some Dee Dee Blanchard tease up in this gig.🤤
Enough proof to show us that SHE IS THE REASON Hollywood Cinema is still THRIVING in this shithole that we call 2020.☝🏻😀
I'm not a fan of this movie.
I was super lukewarm on the script when I read an early draft back in 2018. I remember asking my brother why he doesn't just make this other incredible idea he's had for so long that i can't even talk about but aghghghhg its so fucking good (because Searching hadn't come out and he was still unproven / unknown as a writer-director), and then telling him that Run would only succeed on the strength of his execution as a filmmaker. I was right.
I've seen this film three times now and unlike Searching, my opinion hasn't changed with any rewatch. The strong sequences felt stronger, but the rest of the film felt mostly…
Maybe I don’t want Sarah Paulson to be my mom after all. Run is a mystery thriller that tells the story of a homeschooled handicapped teenager who found out that her mother is not what she seemed to be. The film revolves around Chloe, a teen bounded by a wheelchair, whose daily routine consists of medication, homeschool, and constant pampering of her mother, but one day, she noticed something strange that led her to see the cracks, the deception, and the lies about her mother and her life.
Being a mother is probably the most difficult and important role a woman can have, as they carry, flesh out, and tend for their child. The overprotectiveness is a form of affection,…
I can totally relate to this movie because every time the internet is down I inject myself with some horse tranquilizer.
I expected a lot more from the movie, considering that the plot was given to us right at the beginning. Though, I can’t say I’m completely disappointed. I am bothered by many unexplained things... scars on Diane's back?? How were all the health problems caused - asthma?
Sarah Paulson is always a treat and this is exactly the type of roll she excels in. I really appreciated how all of the main characters were smart and didn’t make your typical horror movie choices. That being said, the daughter being so smart and never finding a reason to suspect her mother until she turned 18 is a little hard to believe. Overall, had a fun time watching.
Holy SHIT this was insane, but Sarah Paulson is just so fucking amazing playing these characters
