was thinking today that i should rewatch Hereditary and then I was like “c’mon man you’ve got the day off. watch something chill, take it easy.” then i watched Shiva Baby instead and the effect on my heart rate was probably the same. this that good good though!!! the kind of fun anxiety that makes me go “oh noooOOOOOO” every few minutes. reminds me of a few nightmares i have had and several panic attacks i have also had, except i paid $6.99 to have it this time and then logged onto the internet to tell you all you should really try this kick-ass panic attack
emma seligman is awesome. this movie rules AND it’s 77 minutes!! it always sounds…
Interrupted my horror marathon (that I am aggressively behind on) to check this out and...fuck yes. But also, as someone who identifies as bisexual and has had a handful of uncomfortable experiences during family get-togethers because of that, this is at least SORT OF a horror movie. Right?
Depending on availability, I predict myself watching this at least 5 more times before the end of the year. Rachel Sennott rules.

“Chaim! Chaim! it’s Moshe. Your cousin, Moshe Blumstein. You know that new Jewish-American cinema you’re looking for? Well, listen to this!”
it’s like a car crash you can’t look away from in the best possible way, i’m obsessed. so many good lines but the prize goes to “you’re projecting a lot of misogyny for a future women’s march organizer”
Loved the sheer fucking chaos of this movie, I only wish it would have built up to something more climactic by the end. But overall, super fun time
First off I don’t really like “awkward” humor much, I get too much 2nd hand embarrassment. However the movie was well written throughout its short run time.
(I really didn’t like that the main character was assumed to be a “whore “ for doing sugarbaby/ escort as work or being implied that she’s a “home wrecker” she didn’t know he was married
I thought it was good but not as great as everyone’s making it out to be. Is that legal. Am I allowed to say that
Rewatching this film was just as stressful as the 1st time I watched it. Bumped up my rating. After a rewatch, I appreciated the art and writing/directing more.
What a terrific directorial debut from Emma Seligman. The film had me on edge throughout its entire runtime. I look forward to seeing what else she has to offer.
This was the most intense comedy I have ever seen. Also made more effective use of scare chords than most A24 movies.
this was so good, so clever. very uncomfortable to watch in a hilariously and painstakingly relatable way. i am very anti family gatherings and watching this felt like my absolute worst nightmare unfolding i literally wanted to bury my head under my sheets with every scene that went by lol it was perfectly awkward and embarrassing.
this film was also less than 90 minutes which is always a plus in my book!! more good under-90 films!!!
also molly gordon...........many thoughts
