too much to say to not condense my thoughts significantly so sorry if this reads like the incoherent thoughts of a mad woman. yknow that simpsons bit where the board artist on itchy and scratchy is like "whenever poochy's not in the scene, everyone should be asking "where's poochy? i wanna see poochy! i wonder where poochy is!""? thats how i feel about crona. watching this for the first time as a grown adult who usually doesnt even like shonen i still cried like a BITCH at both emotional peaks in their character arc. they're the best thing about the show by a longshot. maka's great too tho. watching dr stein be a mindbroken twisted fucking cyclepath made me feel…
Soul Eater has a bland plot, okay animation, and very lame action. The likable and well-developed characters are certainly the sweet spot of the show, and that’s about it.
a sorely needed rewatch and i think i'll hate the filler arc at the end as much as i did when i stopped watching it there but what i will say is that the first three episodes of Soul Eater have unmatched energy. seriously just genuine awesome incredible shit for anyone who likes "ANIMATION" on any level to enjoy and i'll root till my throat bleeds for that attitude. the Excalibur episodes are also deserving of their individual entries on this website because frequently television anime lands itself in quite cinematic territory. and if you haven't let even a drop of this show into your life..... YOU SUCK!!!
Ahhhhhh black startrr ahhhh ooooooh black star oooooh my god ahhhhh wtfffffffff yoooooooo black stat ahhhhhouuuuhhhhhgggh fuck
Incredibly visually appealing, great animation, absolute garbage writing and pacing
This piece of nostalgia holds up really well, which is nice. The usual good shonen stuff. Amazed young Parm didn't get sexually awakened, let alone notice how often sexy Dr.Stein shows up. The OST also slaps.
This somehow being on LetterBoxd means more big dumb shonen anime should be on LetterBoxd damn it
Crona is one of the best anime characters. The ending could have been better but this show is still pretty cool.

If I had to define anime with one show. This is probably the most 'anime' anime, I've ever seen.
Crona my non-binary friend, you have earned a special place in my heart.
I think this was the first anime that I genuinely watched the whole way through, so it has a special place in my heart. It’s very nostalgic to me, and I enjoyed the whole concept. I do think the ending was a little bit rushed, and I’m not too fond of Excalibur, but overall a good beginner anime.
