OH MY GOSH, WTF DID I JUST WATCH. This movie was absolutely incredible. I'm totally speechless right now. I didn't think Anime-type movies could be so good. I now see why Miyazaki is said to be one of the greatest filmmakers ever. I've seen 2 of his films now and am starting to think that he's an absolute genius. No longer will I hesitate to watch one of his movies.
Fear traps you inside yourself.
Also: the cute little bird and the fat baby mouse thing? I'm not made of stone.
I refuse to believe that there are actually people out there who don't consider this one of the best movies ever made...
Studio Ghibli's 'masterpiece' Spirited Away is a fantastic, deeply conflicting, awe inspiring film. Directed by the incredible Hayao Miyazaki, the story follows a 10-year-old girl and her parents who wander into a world ruled by gods, witches, and spirits, and where humans are changed into beasts.
Spirited Away is truly gorgeous. The animation is superb, dialogue incredible and storyline bizarrely intriguing. It's like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Hayao Miyazaki's vision is once again incredible with his direction being utterly fantastic throughout as he builds this wondrously strange and just plain wonderful world from the ground up. However, I just didn't love it like many of you do. The storyline is bazar, wacky and unlike anything I've ever seen before…
This is the first anime that I have ever seen. Let me tell you, it was a down right amazing experience. This is a journey I will never forget!
The visuals, music, and characters were all outstanding. I especially loved all of these characters; they were so well thought out. It's obvious that Miyazaki cared immensely about everything in this beautiful film.
The imagination that was contained in this movie was something truly special.
what is today?
“it’s my birthday”
and why did you wanna watch spirited away?
“because it’s cool. i just wanna say i like spirited away, and that’s all”
the generous heart of a child conjures a dream of spiritually and socially rewarding work in the face of western gluttony, money and environmental destruction. you'd think at some point the level of visual imagination on display would stop being shocking but it always is.
my bad for deciding to watch this on two (2) edibles without having seen it since i was a small child, so in my memory this movie is a grotesque horror movie, which it still is if you’re 5, or on edibles. 10/10 though holy shit
its been two years since i last watched it and its better than i remember. its still only my third favorite ghibli movie though😳☝️
Spirited Away is what I think of as an "it's not you, it's me" film. There's no single aspect of it at the level of conception or production that I find any less than admirable, and yet, when I see the degree of adulation it receives from other film fans, I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. I dunno - I try and fail to put my finger on what it is in this episode.

after 19373883 years i finally watched this masterpiece. to be honest i always consider this as one of the most overrated ghibli films that’s why it took me couple of months to watch after going first with the underrated ones. yet even though this is one of the hyped ghibli films.... i can confirm, it is well deserved as well as with howl’s moving castle of which i have also just watched recently.
anyways KAMIKI voicing as BOH though? HOW ADORABLE. he said it is still the character which left him great impression the most. he is only 7 years old in this let me cry
I watched this movie as 10 years old kid.
It was a bit weird and interesting.
Nice movie.
