The Fourth Annual 'On Cinema' Oscar Special
"If I could give one message to the world from my grave, it would be: Don't vaccinate. It's so dangerous and deadly."

The 88th Academy Awards are aired on ABC. Simultaneously, the Fourth On Cinema Oscar Special is streamed on Adult Swim. You are watching neither, but something even better: Godzilla: Final Wars, the penultimate entry of the then 29 movie series that you have watched one each day in that month. You post screenshots to Twitter just by using the screenshot feature on your iPhone, little realizing you won’t be able to do that with iTunes anymore by the end of the year. If someone told you you’d never be this happy again, you’d believe it.
consistently amazed by how great the editing gags are in these live specials
gregg staring off into the distance with his “i will leave if dekkar comes back” quickly fading in and out is such a perfect encapsulation of his dynamic with tim
This whole series in a nutshell: watching a group of fans dressed up as Ant-Man characters attempt to competitively label VHS tapes while Tim Heidecker throws sub sandwiches at them from offscreen
Tim Heidecker may be an alcoholic, pseudoscientific, MAGA-peddling nutjob with anger problems, but I fucking hate Gregg Turkington.
There is a lot to hate about Gregg Turkington. He has no interests outside of movies and no knowledge about that sole passion. He believes that to love movies means to recoil at every other artistic medium. He dresses like someone unaware that they exist in the physical realm. Something about his very existence just seems cowardly, like a worm looking for any reason to wriggle its way back underground. But the real reason that I hate Gregg Turkington is because someone has to do it for him.
Gregg is maddeningly self-assured. His monotone drawl betrays no emoton, because emotion is a…
Tim, after bringing out a CG rendering of a teenage version of his recently deceased year-old son: “I thought that was good - - that was healthy”
(And because there are so many good quotes here, another favorite: “Just because you’re James Dean doesn’t mean I’m not gonna beat your ass”)
just a reminder that a short four years ago we said farewell to tom cruise - we miss you son you ain't comin' back
Tim is so mean to Gregg and it genuinely upsets me.
All he wants to do is talk about movies and do his tribute to Bond, but Tim won't stop ruining it with his rageaholism.
My favorite comment on the archived YouTube broadcast of this was “Tim should behead James Dean live” and if that doesn’t sum up On Cinema, what does?
i really think my brain is going to explode at the end of this whole rewatch.
5 bags of popcorn.
Yet again dragged down by Gregg Turkington's unprofessional attitude and his disrespect towards Dekkar, and the dearly missed Tom Cruise Heidecker. Disgraceful, GreggHeads everywhere should be fucking ashamed.
What is the point of this platform if not to share and review The Films That Made Us. This made me
Q: Which of Peter Jackson's parents died during the production of Lord Of The Rings?
A: Both
my bf started googling something and a moment later was like "wait.. James Dean IS DEAD?" I lost it
The long-running storylines and character evolutions are so rewarding.
Gregg continues to inspire to me.
