The Florida Project is an unstructured slice of the experiences of those living in the less glamorous side of Florida’s tourist hotspot, right on the outskirts of the happiest place on Earth. The saturated colours and vibrant cinematography are just a couple of ways of letting the audience in on the fact that we’re viewing everything through the eyes of six-year-old Moonee, who’s young enough to shield herself from the ugliness of her world. She’s not unobservant, but simply takes life as it comes.
