The Good, the Bad, the Weird is one of the best westerns ever made. What a stylish, badass and splendidly entertaining - riff on Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad & the Ugly. The sheer sustained energy of this thing is breathtaking. Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Heon and Jung Woo Seong brought their A game here!
It's hard to do justice in words to it's wall-to-wall visceral action, insane practical stunts and brilliantly composed sequences. The camera movement and shot compositions are amazing, Kim Jee-won puts most Hollywood filmmakers working on much bigger scale to shame.

What in tarnation. I really wish I'm unpredictable, even for once. But shit, man. Why is this film so good? Why is everything I watch so good? I'm handing out four to five stars like free candy. I'm like some five years old kid in Disneyland rating every ride "best ride in the whole wide world". Fuck me. Here, take my cinephile badge, I don't want it anymore. TGTBTW is better than the Eastwood original, I don't give a shit. Once upon a time in the what? I'm done reviewing. Goodbye.

(Seriously though, what a glorious piece of art. Park Chang-yi is one of the best villains of all time. TGTBTW doesn't try to be anything other than weird and fun. Perfect blend of comedy and action. Awesome soundtrack. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.)

Lee Byung-hun is simply way cooler than I'll ever be and I just have to accept that. Him killing a bug is cooler than anything I could ever dream of doing.

I'll say it: Kim Jee-woon is a better director than Park Chan-wook

While everyone else is busy being the epitome of coolness, (e.g. Lee Byung Hun's rather ridiculous haircut and Jung Woo Sung's terminator-style one-hand shotgun twirl) the main highlight of this western parody actually belongs to its weirder side that is Song Kang Ho. His out-of-place clownish behavior serves as the movie's main source of comedic energy, almost effortlessly propelling the story forward ever since his first appearance during a crazy train heist. The director Kim Jee Woon made it obvious that the ultimate goal of the film is to be as silly as possible, and he had achieved it with Song alone, who, surprisingly now that I've checked, has only a handful of comedic roles in his career so far.

We need more.

Boy, was this fun!
This is a two hour long rollercoaster ride that is paced to perfection. It is directed with creative gusto, has some unbelievable action sequences and is incredibly funny.
Definitely one of the best action/adventure/westerns I've seen in a long, long while.

Song Kang Ho is just amazing as he always is. 
This movie is just insane.
The scene where Song Kang Ho walks out with a scuba diving helmet and all the gang shoots at him and every bullet bounces of the helmet sums up this movie. 
The shootout in the rain is amazing. The assassin flying around on the ropes just looks amazing. 
Just tons of solid action sequences and some great laughs as well. 
And the ending is just perfect.
The final duel and chase scene is amazing. 
The villain is really well done. I didn’t expect it. 
And that opening on the train is just thrilling. 
8/10 solid Korean film. 
If you want a fun film that combines the old west with a gangster film and an adventure film with a great twist I would highly recommend it.

I love the almost Stephen Chow style cartoon inspired action set pieces and Song Kang-ho is always a gem, but it all runs out of steam. The plot is simultaneously too simple and convoluted - it's essentially a chase for a map and in that sense it almost feels like Mad Max: Fury Road at times, but instead of creating a focused narrative fixed around its 3 titular characters the film throws in plenty of distractions in the form of sidekicks, random gangs, the Japanese army, crossed allegiances and nonsensical backstory. I like the intention of this movie more than the final result. A blend of Sergio Leone and Stephen Chow with a sprinkling of Tarantino from the Korean director of I Saw the Devil sounds like a dream. This was more the kind of dream you immediately begin to forget once you've woken up.

First of all, Happy Birthday to the great Song Kang-ho. He’s one of the best actors around. 

The was crazy and weird but I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was funny with some great action and brilliant performances from the 3 main actors.

This is probably one of the best action comedy I've seen. This is the kind of movie if it released today, I will happily buy the ticket to watch it on big screen. It had some truly impressive action sequences, Great Production design and heart-pounding score. Song Kang ho and others were equally good as usual and it's full of funny moments, which provided a much needed light-hearted tone. The only negative I felt it has is its length, it could have easily been 10-12 minutes short. Highly recommended if you are looking for a fun entertainer.

The Good The Bad The Weird menyajikan permainan kucing-kucingan antara 3 koboi korea dengan suguhan adegan baku tembak dar der dor ala koboi yang nggak berhenti-henti selama 2 jam 10 menit dan asli asik banget ngeliat gimana mereka main kucing-kucingan, tangkap-tangkapan sambil nyari harta karun dan asli ini gokil dan sangat menghibur, camera movement sama zoom effect nya bener bener membangun intens adrenalin dar der dor nya serta comedy nya disini kebantu banget buat bangun semuanya disini.

Western movie with no white men in sight? Count me the fuck in!

Such a fun movie. Really like how it honored the spirit of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly and at times even elevated it? Though that might just be because modern movies are easier to watch. Anyways, good shit.

This movie still rocks. I remember watching it my freshman year of college and it was my first exposure to contemporary non-English language genre movies, and I was like “oh okay these aren’t cheap imitations.” I was a moron.
