Emotion with a capital E. Brad Bird takes the concept of ET and transforms the consumerist setting of the 80s into a paranoiac painting of the 1950s. Every aspect revolves around the fuzzy, strange, and complex feelings radiating from the heart, and Fall shifts into Winter within 30 seconds because it's a flourishing aspect of the film's operatic humanism. The end feels like a sly way to contradict its inner themes without drawing criticism, and it's a shame because until then, The Iron Giant is extraordinary in its grandiose cold-war analysis and bittersweet connection.

Also, stop doing Superman movies. We have this one and it's all we need.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the warmth, love and care this film emanates.

It’s your typical black sheep, fish-out-of-water children’s movie, but it is undeniably one of the best of its kind. The animation is perfect for its time period, and everything about this strangely feels like a warm cup of tea and a knitted sweater.

Perfection, one of the greatest animated movies ever. A great message mixed with stunning animation, a great story and mind blowing set pieces. Brad Bird is one of the best in the business and this is his magnum opus.

es una mezcla de las películas de ciencia ficción de antaño con la ya clásica ambientación de la guerra fría, con un guión simple pero bien estructurado y personajes carismáticos. El gigante de hierro es una introspectiva sobre aquello que nos hace únicos, y nos da una gran lección de buenos valores sin ser muy pegajosa.

I haven´t watched this film in my childhood and so I don´t have a strong connection to this like many other people have.

Still, I really loved the charme and playfulnes the film brings across. It´s a typical Child meets magical new freind story with some great blocking and an end, that was a little bit too exaggerated in my opinion and definetely stood out from the rest of the film.

Masterpiece en animación.

Holds up to the rest of time. Quite an emotional juggernaut. Really Spielbergian in its sense of childlike wonder and suburban Americana vibes. It’s too bad it is such an underrated film, this one holds up. Just weird that the kids name is Hogarth.
