Naked Brothers Band is honestly the most intelligent show to ever exist.

alex wolff was really 6 years old walking around in a durag... the early 2000s were a different time
So yeah, I watched this mockumentary about a bunch of kids who have a band. As a grown adult man, I should really be ashamed of myself. You know how they don't let you into Chuck E. Cheese if you don't have kids? The reason why that's true is probably the same reason why no adult should ever sit at home alone and watch this movie.
Um, OK, what else. Oh yeah, there are cameo appearances from Uma Thurman, Julianne Moore, Cyndi Lauper, Tony Shalhoub and Arsenio Hall. It was written and directed by Polly Draper which explains why the entire cast of the 80's TV series Thirtysomething also shows up. That's sure to be of interest to the legions…

UMA THURMAN WHAT THE FREAK IS GOING ON???? i'm not kidding, this movie is genuinely so funny and i was audibly laughing throughout . baby alex wolff walking around in a durag and basketball jerseys was 100% worth the $5 i paid to rent.
this movie means the absolute world to me and i mean that in the most sincere, unironic way possible
much like when I reviewed that hetalia movie, I did not watch this today nor will I likely ever watch it again but felt the need to review it just to talk about how important the naked brothers band was to me when I was like 4. it is very stupid but it is likely that I never would have gotten into playing music without this nickelodeon children's band and I am sure I'm not the only one for which this is the case.
also if there's a reunion tour I will be there.

A mockumentry film of a Nickelodeon TV show that I unfortunately
couldn't watch often due to my family constantly fucking things up for me during my childhood. But since I know got to watch this after all these years, I do think this is a good mockumentry film for a Nickelodeon TV series. Pity I couldn't watch it years ago as I would have loved it but at least I got to now.
i noticed this on my watched julianne moore movies and somehow ended up rewatching this. wtf was this. uma thurman had a crush on a 9 year old. a 6 year old had a soda addiction. this must have been the part of my childhood that i blocked out.

It should be illegal to make mockumentaries for children. I 100% took this as truthful gospel as a 9 year old.
Looking back, The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie was perhaps the most formative piece of media I'd watched as a child. I must've been around nine years ago when the Canadian children's TV network YTV played this movie out of the blue and I was sucked into this film's singular self-contained universe. Where The Silver Boulders really were as big as The Beatles, and where Crazy Car really was a legitimate international #1 hit.
Uma Thurman is in this. Fresh off the heels of Kill Bill: Vol. 2, no less.
