“Mary, gag your grandmother!”
Pretty entertaining dark Xmas comedy🎄😈. Kevin Spacey’s presence will always make me uncomfortable now but this was still pretty funny.😆
Never seem a Christmas movie with this much bondage🪢. It’s definitely for cynical people.
I feel so much better about my crumbling family after this!👍😭
Kevin Spacey really went out and confessed his crimes on 93 and we didn’t even realize it.
So let’s get this out of the way and address the elephant in the room: everyone in this movie is a bunch of insufferable c**ts. Like this kind of person, even Satan begs God not to send him to hell. And to everyone's credit, they all deliver this perfectly while maintaining this great dark comedic timing, especially Leary and Davis. Ironically, Spacey gets to play a much more submissive role, though he still manages to let out some of that sarcastic, prickly nature we will eventually learn is him being himself. The writing is devilishly good and surprisingly quotable, like the whole ‘hijink…
The ultimate Christmas film, complete with robbery, kidnapping, cat pee, bondage, Helsinki Syndrome, mommy issues, blasphemy, innuendo, blackmail, drunken pissing Santa, new age weirdness, and plenty of rants and profanity. Dennis Leary anchors a fantastic cast that provides you with the dysfunctional Christmas to end all dysfunctional Christmases. If you've never seen it, and you like dark comedy, you owe it to yourself to break it out next December 25th. It will make you feel better about your family.
Fuck you, that's my name.
-Gus
A Christmas family favorite. The late Ted Demme, who directed Denis Leary's comedy special No Cure for Cancer, reunites with the chain smoker for this star vehicle. It's really appropriate since Leary's character, Gus, is basically a slightly tuned down version of his stand-up persona, but there is still plenty of "fucks" coming from Leary while he lights up yet another cigarette and basically looses his shit at every turn as nothing goes his way.
I, and certain members of my family, might enjoy the film so much because it's a bit of wish fulfillment. To spend Christmas with your dysfunctional family and be able to finally tell some of them to shut the…
Very funny and holds up nicely. A well written script and a wide variety of solid acting makes for a fun movie. Forgot that Spacey, while a shit, could really act.
This is something I rarely compliment a movie on, but damn was this script sharp. I felt every insult, threat, and sincere moments this movie threw. The writing behind this is really elevates the material that made me glued to the screen. Another reason for that is its cast, mainly the big three. There are other actors here that are good but the main three had this movie on their backs.
Having a premise of a robber who takes hostage a couple and he gets more than he bargains for is just genius. This movie uses that concept so well and even leaves plenty of room for dark humor to take over. I laughed when they did and I was upset when they were. Please dont let The Ref go unwatched.
This movie is the definition of a early Christmas present. Thank me later.

A hysterical dysfunctional Christmas Film that treats you like an adult, I love a good dinner scene.
This was a fun Christmas movie with good subtle jokes, performances, and plot to it despite its a story about family and marriage issues.
Dennis Leary stole the show!
Thanks for Recommendation, Sam G
I laughed non-stop throughout the whole movie. Not just blowing air through my nose or recognizing that something was clever. Actual, audible laughter.
