Sacha in disguise: He's obsessed about what happened the night with the wife. And he wants you to tell him.
O.J.: What wife?
Sacha in disguise: The one you shot.
Finally finished this, it's just too much insanity to endure in one sitting. My jaw dropped at the Quinceañera thing. The food critic stuff....the diapers that turn babies transgender... and the O.J. interview was just unreal. Since this is not a movie but a series and there was more content here they also used the segments where people being interviewed didn't get caught saying anything too outrageous, which I thought made it much more fair and only made the horrific moments look even more horrific. Also I actually had to…
A strong testament to how divided this nation can be when it is guided with incompetence. While the first episode of the series feels like its going nowhere, it certainly ends with a bang and then never settles down from there. Sacha Baron Cohen’s six characters are all unique, memorable, and incredibly subtle. It’s truly funny stuff, but it’s also horrifying to see how some corrupt politicians and lost citizens think. Yet, I’m glad to know we’re not going to have another four years of Trump :’).
A dumbfounding series that provides a bleak but hysterical look into the current state of American politics and society as a whole
Sacha Baron Cohen is incredible. Between his dedication in each role, his total ability to sell himself as a character to unsuspecting (and often prominent) individuals, and his outstanding improvisational comedic ability and timing, he created something here that absolutely no one else could. And his characters are works of ingenious satire
Last year my family and I went on a road trip from Nevada to California (with a few detours), it was an enjoyable time, and on our travels we encountered many unique and memorable places. However, one location always stood out to me in its unparalleled surrealness, though not for the reasons you may expect.
While travelling on the I-40, we stopped at a Wal-Mart in a nearby city to purchase some supplies. Although unexceptional in many regards, and nicely situated on the ever picturesque Mojave, this place was unlike any other I'd seen so far.
I felt weirdly intimidated as a 6'5 man in a 2nd Amendment jacket and MAGA hat trudged past me towards his bumper sticker laden…
Comedic work that entertains throughout its 3.5 hour runningtime, or one of the most impressive pieces of journalistic work in years?
Think about this: if America's politicians are so easily duped by a comedian, how do they stand a chance against a professional lobbyist with a sizable check book? Let that marinate in your thoughts.
Who Is America? is without question the best and most important thing SBC has ever made. It is of course side-splittingly hilarious, endlessly baffling, unwatchably cringeworthy—it is a train-wreck of horror in the best of ways—and insightful in the most poignant of ways. This show is Sacha laughing in disbelief watching a forest fire nobody seems to mind. This is performance art at its finest;…
Don't know why this is on Letterboxd but I'm so glad it is.
Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius. This one of the best things he's ever made. Really shines yet another light on how much of a dumpster fire America is.
The amount of stuff he gets away within this show is absurd. From getting a Georgian representative to scream the N-word (which he later got fired for), to get Dick Cheney to sign a waterboard, to even getting OJ Simpson to joke about killing his wife and that's not even the most shocking stuff in this show. You could write a whole 10 paragraph essay on the amount of crazy shit in this show.
It's not going to happen but I really, really, really hope we get a season 2. I'll watch everything that has Sacha Baron Cohen involved.
Sacha Baron Cohen is a wild man. Dick Cheney signing a waterboard and the Kingman mosque proposal almost had me pissing myself. Some stuff felt staged with the Erran Morad character which took me out of it.
Sucks we’re not getting a season 2 cause this is one great comedic series from Sacha Baron Cohen. He really got these motherfuckers to do a lot of stupid shit. Exposing politicians and as well as “regular Americans.” A lot of great scenes. Can’t believe Sacha got O.J. Simpson in this. A must watch limited series on Showtime. Sacha is a legend.
Was this a show I should have binged? Probably not. It was so cringey, and in complete fairness both sides of the political spectrum were represented. But guess which party was gullible enough to fall for it. Everyone that fell for Sasha Baron Cohen’s so outlandish stuff, 100% deserved it. It was disgusting to see people act that way. The worst was the Georgia Rep.
it’s unreal how sacha baron cohen was able to successfully execute this hilarious insanity. he’s too good.
