A diverting launch for the X-Men franchise with the Fox side of Marvel at the helm of it. The initial X-Men film out of many to come held up relatively well on the whole with this much-needed revisit, though it definitely feels somewhat dated looking back now since this was the beginning of it after all.
Still, I'd say this was a fairly solid start for a live-action X-Men series as this film certainly established the comic book film spectacle of the 2000s before the eventual rise of the MCU came into the picture.
As expected with most of the early 2000s comic book films, a considerable number of the visual effects used throughout here particularly in the action sequences…

“Hey, bub, I'm not finished with you yet.”
This film was directed by Bryan Singer and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Anna Paquin, Famke Janssen, James Madden, Rebecca Romijn, and Tyler Mane
Somehow I managed to see every single other X-Men movie before the first I probably saw it when I was very little but I had no memory of it so I’m gonna consider this as my first watch, I expected to like it because I love all the other movies even the mediocre ones. I’m so glad to say I loved it, the special effects surprisingly still hold up extremely well for the time. Everyone is perfectly casted in the X-Men movies, yes everyone and even…
As much as X-Men is painfully average, there are still many enjoyable and refreshing aspects of the film. Given that there had been no introduction to any of the characters prior to this film, Brian Singer does a good job of making them interesting. Plus, it establishes the conflict between Eric and Xavier, which has been an integral part of many films that come afterward. Not to mention, the character introduction, especially that of Wolverine, was incredible. We instantly know the basic characterization given to each of them, which was enough to get behind the movie. Hugh Jackman was the optimal choice for the role of Wolverine, and he proved it for the next 17 years.…
A promising start of the X-Men universe on the silver screen, X-Men is a fascinating work of science-fiction & a terrific addition to the superhero genre film. This is the first time I've watched it & now I'm wondering what the hell actually stopped me from checking it out earlier. The only other X-Men instalment I've seen before is X-Men: First Class & if it wasn't for its latest sequel which brings back the cast from the original trilogy, I wouldn't have bothered to give it a go & would've again missed out on what actually is a pretty good film.
Set in a not-so-distant future in which few people around the world are mutants; possessing superhuman powers that has also resulted in them…
not to be dramatic, but i would happily watch this movie for the rest of my life until i am dead
"Oh and Logan? Stay away from my girl."
Ever since Marvel became a household name, I've been planning to return to the scene of the crime and investigate where this hero of the box office got its powers. While X-Men was neither the first Marvel Studios live action co-production (Blade) nor the one to really launch the studio into the spotlight (Spider-Man), for me it signified the superhero genre's shift from the realm of b-movies, cult classics, and relative obscurity onto the center stage of the American blockbuster. It may have only grossed a modest $300 million compared to Spider-Man's $800 million, but it proved that you could use wonky sci-fi characters in a mainstream action movie to get audiences…
Not the most thrilling movie I've ever seen, but a solid start to the series. A lot of great characters and villains were introduced in this one.

rogue is the physical embodiment of those tik toks that are like “when you hate touching other people but your love language is touch” except she physically can’t touch other people
Bryan Singer gave himself quite a chore with 2000's "X-Men." In the space of a single film, he needed to introduce the personalities and powers of an ensemble of beloved characters, allowing each the opportunity to stand out and be recognized. For the most part, he succeeds, and "X-Men," while not the greatest superhero film, is a solid motion picture. It lacks the personality of better superhero and better X-men films to come, but it gets the franchise off to a good start.
The film begins by moving across eras and introducing its major players. Magneto, Rogue, and Wolverine are given separate moments before they are integrated into the film's plot. This allows Singer to establish a serious tone and…
sorry......... i don’t know who the fuck “the avengers” are..... sounds lame if you ask me...
An okay comic book movie that didn't age very well, it has some pretty cringey lines and some typical CBM tropes that I'm not a big fan of. It still has a very special place in my heart and ofc some of the best castings in any CBM. Tho I love how this movie introduced the audience and myself into this world, I can't wait to see how this team can be different and explored more at the hands of Kevin Feige.
watching this made me feel really nostalgic which made it better in away, idk it’s just something about 2000s action/superhero films that bring me comfort
Boring. I honestly hate Hugh Jackman so much I find him so annoying idk what it is 😭👎 he’s definitely my least favourite actor of all time
hey wolverine can you adopt me too? i don’t have a terrifying mutation like rogue but i sure do need a cool dad figure
Surprisingly good. Holds up relatively well after twenty years. Magneto is a great villain and Wolverine is great as well. I was invested from the beginning and the pace was maintained throughout. The X-Men failed believably and the conclusion was surprisingly good. Fun movie. Only a few flaws but they are far overshadowed by the entertainment.
This movie is like...not great lol it’s pretty cool in terms of what it did for superhero movies but on it’s own it’s pretty...uh.
It introduces the main X-Men and does it in a sophisticated way without making the audience feel stupid. Often films spend too long explaining things when really it takes a minute or two - xmen did this quite well.
I’m watching this in the mindset of ive never seen them before, so based on that, it’s a great start to the X-Men franchise.
"You know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning? [dramatic pause] The same thing that happens to everything else."
Despite the fact this line was a Joss Whedon addition, it is fantastic.
