Streamed Sophia Takal's ALWAYS SHINE on The Criterion Channel, which was written by her hubby Lawrence Michael Levine. Though no BLACK BEAR, it's still a trippy, thrilling 3 WOMEN-like character study of 2 female frenemies featuring mind-blowing turns by Mackenzie Davis & Caitlin FitzGerald.
Visually impressive, with top notch stunt driving, editing, music, & sound design. But it's all just a shell for an utterly vacuous experience, "full of sound & fury, signifying nothing."
The polecats sequence is one of the most intricately executed (& most undeniably thrilling!) pieces of action filmmaking I've ever seen.
