Asian Film Marathon 19#
Kim Ki-duk proves to be quite a diverse filmmaker, but also one witha unique style. Pieta borders on psychological thrills and Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring is a meditative spiritual journey looking at the cycle of life. 3-iron tells a beautiful love story- and with its main characters never saying a word. Not to anyone, and not to each other. A first, it seems a pretentious gimmick, but it isn't at all. This is one of the best romance films I have seen, and is profoundly human and open to interpretation. Very well-shot, acted and directed. My full thoughts are in my review below!
