film twitter.’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is the FIFTH time I've seen this movie, and despite the glaring writing inconsistencies, the erratic tone & pacing, the non-existent character development despite being the second in an ongoing trilogy, and the tackled on feminist message thrown in to make it feel important, this movie is STILL the best Star Wars movie by far and gets BETTER every time I see it. It is not only one of the greatest Star Wars films but also one of the greatest films of all time, a true masterclass in every facet of artistic design, and I can't endlessly stretch out my paragraphs in adjectives enough to describe how IMPORTANT this film is to THE WORLD and society at large.
Also FUCK the Star Wars fans for hating this movie. Like GUYS, it's just a fucking movie about wizards for children, it's not that big a deal. Harassing the Asian girl off social media, what the fuck. I'd even say Star Wars fans are, without a doubt, the WORST fans of ANYTHING to ever grace the earth, not because of decades of doing crazy shit like starting a Jedi RELIGION, or driving Jar Jar Binks to the brink of suicide, or trying to FORCE Adam Driver to marry Daisy Ridley just to fulfill Reylo, but because they didn't like the one Star Wars that *I* like, the ONLY Star Wars that *I'M* able to have a personal attachment to due to growing up in the #ResistTrump era (as opposed to the hippy rebel era or the anti-Bush era that inspired the other trilogies). Like srsly, a movie in a revered blockbuster franchise paying respect to it's lore and delivering a captivating and unique story based off of it, what the fuck is that all about? God bless you Rian, for everything your first draft notebook scribbles managed to accomplish.
