Bad reviews are contagious.
I look at Halloween Kills as almost on par with Halloween II. Both stories are very similar with Jamie Lee spending most of both films in a hospital.
The kills are what you would expect. My favorite kill sequence involves a car and a playground. I also liked a very intense Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle. The fellas have something to do in this one as Will Patton also acts pretty decent.
Halloween Kills takes…
I am not sure how many people are even aware of Warning Sign, but it is definitely worth watching.
Warning Sign has an Outbreak / The Thing vibe. Sam Waterston gets to play an action hero, and Kathleen Quinlan is the minimum wage security guard heroine. Yaphet Kotto and Jeffrey DeMunn have hefty roles as well.
Warning Sign is a film ahead of its time. It is dated, but highly relevant. Seek it out.
Opposing Force features Dallas from Alien trying to survive a military training exercise turned way too real. It also features Shaft, Lisa Eichhorn, a menacing Anthony Zerbe and a character named Botts, that I kept wanting to call Gobot.
Opposing Force has some awful dialogue, but the action is still solid. It features drama made for the ‘80s and some hard to watch scenes that show the dirtbagness of Anthony Zerbe’s Becker.
Opposing Force is another not-so-known movie you might want to check out.
One of the rare movies to feature Billy Drago as a good guy.
Diplomatic Immunity is a solid action revenge fest with Bruce Boxleitner out to avenge the death of his daughter. It is nothing you haven’t seen before, but I found the movie very watchable and entertaining.
I couldn’t help but laugh at Matthias Hues. It was like he decided to hang out on set, and they gave him a henchman role. Or, all his lines got cut in the editing room. Also, look for Robert Forster acting like he is only 6 years away from starring in Jackie Brown. Check it out, action fanatics!
Aquaman and Dora the Explorer verses Big Pharma.
Sweet Girl has some very well choreographed action sequences and stunts. Jason Momoa is one of those actors who was born to star in action movies.
Sweet Girl’s plot progression might be a head scratcher for some, but I found myself entertained throughout. Grab a big bowl of popcorn and check out Sweet Girl on Netflix.
My type of movie in so many ways.
Phoenix is so ‘90s and I love every minute of it. Ray Liotta is on fire. You could make the case that Anthony LaPaglia, Daniel Baldwin and Jeremy Piven have their finest hours of their film careers. Tom Noonan’s voice will haunt my dreams. We have strippers, more strippers and a crazy heist.
Phoenix also does a great job in exploring the dangers of gambling and gambling addiction. It is a must watch movie in my opinion for those looking for underrated and under seen films.
Targets is movie making magic. The camera lens becomes the sniper rifle. I picked up a lot of “that’s how you film a film” moments.
Boris Karloff kinda plays himself. You have the movie star known for playing monsters (Karloff’s Byron Orlok) in a parallel story with a real life monster (Tim O’Kelley’s Bobby Thompson). Karloff is near death, but gives such a lively performance. O’Kelley acting almost feels too real. Targets is such a haunting movie.

The Fatal Raid is marketed as a Girls with Guns action movie. It might have girls and guns, but it is definitely more Heroic Bloodshed than anything else.
Instead of focusing on the ladies, the main focus is on this cop fella. Obviously, the director hasn’t seen any Andy Sidaris movies.
The gunfights are practical, but the subtitles are some of the worst I’ve ever attempted to read. The Fatal Raid is most definitely a mixed bag for me.
I laughed hard watching Vacation Friends. John Cena continues to become one of the most versatile actors working today, and Lil Rel Howery shines in his leading role.
Vacation Friends has a lot of laughs without the goofy gags that go with a lot of comedy films. Vacation Friends is fun from start to finish, but the beginning is the film’s strongest act.
Vacation Friends hit my funny bone. Watch it with a margarita!
