Got the chance to see this in theaters early and it is..well yeah..it is indeed a Snyder film. Bloated, nonsensical, yet somehow has this snap of COOL, Army of the Dead is a Snyder fever dream. The film is riddled with slowmo, random christ imagery, and hyperstylized violence, which are all staples of a Snyder film to be sure. Normally, I would HATE this. Normally, I HATE Snyder's work. So...why did this work on me? Is it because I just enjoyed seeing this nonsense in the theater? Is it because I got to see my wife curl up in her seat and watch her jaw drop at the gore? I don't know, you tell me.
The performances are cliché as shit but like...I don't mind that? Seeing Batista kick zombie ass is cool, I don't give a fuck. Everyone else was fine. But let's be real, we watch this for Batista. Snyder being the director AND dp on this made it even more...unbearable at some points but dope in others.
WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME? AM I BECOMING A SNYDER FANBOY? HAIL DADDY SNYDER, HAIL ZADDY!
