Sally Jane Black’s review published on Letterboxd:
Remarkably competent and fun and... well, it's not not gross, but it's not as vomitous as I aniticipated. Because I didn't. Not like I did with Shivers. So there's that. It's silly, and it's weird to see a film where the health inspector is the hero. But that's part of the fun; you can feel that this is trying its best to add a dash of respectability to the monster movie vibe it has going. And it works, in spite of the fact that the filmmaker is convinced that just adding ominous music can make a head of lettuce scary. Adding ominous music to already-gross slugs? That works. But not so much the lettuce.
