I really like these big, slow burn epics when done correctly. The large set pieces pace the character development, rather than character development being shoehorned via emotional ‘moments’ in between the action.

OOP Criterion going for $100+ so picked up the European 4K release. Just gorgeous. Maybe my favorite Melville. A color film but black, black, black.

The tension leading up to and then blowing up during the clown freak out scene is legitimately disturbing and quite wonderful.
