Okay, if I'm being totally honest, it took me about 20 minutes to realize that David Bowie wasn't going to show up.
This is a fantastic movie, a nearly perfect one. I love a story that's told from a child's perspective that actually feels like it is told from a child's perspective (not a freaky genius that is a vague cover for the fact that adults can't write children).
The scary eye monster (the Pale Man, I guess) is one of the scariest monsters I've ever seen.
Also, the way this movie blends the horrors of war with the monsters is incredible. The mesh of fantasy and reality (and the realization that Vidal is the true villain) works on every level.
