    A great portrait of lost time in New York.
    The movie never quite ascends to great heights of kitsch, and sort of lands in the middle of serious and schlock. She’s not giving your typical blood-soaked scream Queen hagsploitation, she is cool as a cucumber in her Lauren Bacall way. She is so controlled the whole time. In fact the whole movie is sort of underplayed by everyone. 
    However the musical numbers… it’s really hard to tell if we’re supposed…

    You have to take in perspective as the first of this genre… the deaths were lurid, but not particularly inventive. 

    Obviously the cinematography is BeOotiful, the lighting design is bonkers and teeth-sinky. Also has one of the most incredible opening title sequences ever.

    We watched this terrible film with a bunch of our of friends for a movie night and it is very riff-worthy. The movie is a chaotic mess. You know how some movies plod along and never get going? This one is turned to eleven. They dispense with the Act 1 within the first five minutes and we’re already in the “home alone”style montage 6 minutes in. 

    As a friend remarked, every scene feels like a  deleted scene. You could randomly…
