    House of Hummingbird

Don’t get me wrong, Kim Sae-byuk is an amazing actress, and she was fantastic in the role (she brought me to tears in the “look at your fingers” conversation), but I’ll be forever frustrated with the thought that Kim Bora wanted Kim Min-hee for the Young-ji role and wrote a whole letter to Minhee saying she was perfect for the role, and now I’ll always be upset and frustrated imagining Minhee doing the Young-ji role on this film. 😭 And if she missed THIS role, imagine all the excellent roles she’s been losing these past few years. 💔

Kim Min-hee singing Que Sera, Sera instantly makes this the best short film of all time. 💜

  • @In the Mood for Love

    @In the Mood for Love

It's insane to witness how Kar-wai basically shot two different films while shooting In the Mood for Love, SO many deleted scenes with a completely different energy and mood that looks absolutely nothing like the feature film we've watched. We see how much Kar-wai keeps changing his works throughtout the whole process, and it's amazing!

  • Fire Woman

    Fire Woman

Youn Yuh-jung's film debut in a very stylish film in her first partnership with the biggest filmmaker from the Golden Age of korean cinema, Kim Ki-young, an evidence of Yuh-jung's being a living legend from korean cinema.

It's always interesting seeing this part of history from a different perspective than we usually see.

    Suzu Hirose amazing as always!

  • Fallen Angels

    Fallen Angels

Rewatched from the 4K restoration. This one had the biggest dumb controversy based purely on misguided dumb angry film snobs who thought the entire film was turned into B&W and it was literally just a couple of short scenes (and it looked very stylish within the context of when it happened), the rest of the film remains with very strong colours, stronger than ever, and more stylish than ever, and the restoration on Fallen Angels is absolutely stunning.

    Can’t believe…

    Happy Together

Rewatched from the 4K restoration and it looks glorious!

Yet another beautiful masterpiece by Wong Kar-wai plus Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung gave two of the best performances in film history!

Shin Hye-sun with one of the most iconic performances in TV history!

  • As Tears Go By

    As Tears Go By

    Rewatched from the 4K restoration.

This being Kar-wai’s oldest film, it also made it the most impressive restoration from the box set. This film, as it happens to tons of Hong Kong classics, suffered from very low image quality through the years and decades, which sometimes makes it harder to have a proper enjoyment of them, and this restoration was simply outstanding, the high image definition is absolutely fantastic, where you can even perfectly see the details in the actors’…

Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack

Japanese monsters films are a proof that you can make genuinely good films with it, it’s not just about shallow dumb “fun” or “it’s monsters beating each other”, you can make actual meaningful human characters, a more interesting actual story that makes sense and a whole lot more depth, stakes and emotion in the chaos between humans and monsters.

  • Days of Being Wild

    Days of Being Wild

18 years without one of the all time greatest actors, you’ll always be missed Leslie! 💜

Rewatched the 4K restoration + 1st watch of the alternative version of the film (So I guess I’ll log the film twice).

This restoration was simply outstanding, the film is looking so amazing, so modernized with the high definition, yet without losing the classic look at the same time, and the use of colours looks even more beautiful. The restoration is SO good, it…

  • Chungking Express

    Chungking Express

Rewatched from the 4K restoration, and it made me very happy how amazing the film is looking! Kar-wai did an amazing work on these restorations!

This is one of the most iconic films in film history, and it’s amazing how an artsy film still has such a huge impact in popular culture and how it transformed so many random spots in touristic spots which still attract people to visit and take photos to this day, 26/27 years later, and to…
