This slightly underwhelming showcase of how a person perceives and experiences time/aging could have been 4.5 stars if the last half hour didn’t exist. I can wholly appreciate the choreography of the final scenes and the music matched it incredibly but up until this conclusion, with everything developing so well, the lack of an acknowledgement of what had been happening on this ‘journey’ for me just didn’t land properly. Seen a lot of bad reviews for this for some reason which I couldn’t disagree with more because I was gripped for the majority of the film. Since I didn’t know anything about the trial or story surrounding the Chicago riots I felt that definitely helped to really pull me in.
The editing style wasn’t really to my taste and the cinematography wasn’t anything groundbreaking (still nicely shot though). Regardless of that, the great individual performances and consistent on-edge atmosphere in the courtroom has made this an addition to my favourites without a doubt.
Also, fuck the pigs
