Thankfully it does not take long at all to appreciate The Zero Years remarkably well written, hypnotic and charismatic actresses as they navigate through the day to day reality of living within a most cruel and cursed existence. Actress Vicky Harris and Eftyhia Yakoumi both deserve a huge shout out! Their characters are especially interesting, seeing them evolve throughout the story (at first total strangers, but by the end I perceived them as part of a family, sisters even). The wacky…

    ★★½

The stacked cast (Sandra Oh, Jennifer Tilly, Daryl Hannah), and the fact they all used improvisational techniques during filming piqued my interest just enough to give this movie a chance and I’m sort of glad I did.. But in hindsight this really isn’t anything noteworthy. Although the Exotica (1994 film) references are a nice touch! For the most part, I would describe this film’s story as a short and sweet love letter aimed at those who are forever searching for someone like Sofia!

“Just remember, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour, and I know the sour. You can do whatever you want with your life, but one day you'll know what love truly is. It's the sour and the sweet.”

Okay, that’s enough sentimemtal schmaltz for one day as I can never stray too far from the finest film genre of all.. #Horror!

“What if all the world's inside of your head just creations of your own. Your devils and your gods, all the living and the dead and you're really all alone. You can live in this illusion, you can choose to believe. You keep looking but you can't find the woods while you're hiding in the trees.”

What an exquisite story! I think this is my third watch entry and I’m still noticing new connections & themes. The VFX are sublime in…

Jocelyn DeBoer is perfect for these types of roles (Thunder Road, The Arrival). It’s hard to imagine these movies working as well as they do without her!
