Perhaps the best sound design of any movie I’ve seen. Perhaps my favorite movie of 2020.

Crazy how similar the story beats (at least thematically) are to those of any number of movies centered around drug addiction. This is almost certainly intentional, and is able to add even more depth and familiarity to a story that feels like it couldn’t possibly be more relatable, despite being about something I will likely never experience.

#11: Watch a movie starring respectful Virgo king Keanu Reeves. The cheesier, the better. Bonus points if it’s one of the last two Matrix films or John Wick 3.

this is SO SO SOOOO long and kinda boring. it really does feel like three different movies in one. keanu fully would just float in and out at random intervals to remind me why i bothered w this film and well. look all i'm saying i could've just fast-forwarded to his parts and i would've been good to go

I grew up listening to the Casey Kasem Top 40, and I’ll always remember when I first heard a clip of him absolutely freaking out on his show’s producers. He reads his customary listener letter, written by a girl whose dog has just died. Kasem finishes the mournful, poignant letter and transitions into a song. It’s Bananarama’s “Venus,” or something like that, and he FREAKS OUT after it comes on. (Paraphrase) *Why the F*CK do you come out of a…

Andrei Konchalovsky’s (must check out more of his work) latest film depicts the 1962 massacre in Novocherkassk of protestors against hiking food costs in the Khruschev era, seen through the eyes of Lyudmila (Julia Vysotskaya), a government official and Stalinist devotee. She finds herself in a most difficult predicament on this ill-fated day as she struggles to reconcile her professional advocation of deadly force for the protestors, with her desperate search for her missing daughter (Yulia Burova) amidst…

lovely movie! you can’t make a bad movie with beautiful shots of food, and i do not say that as a challenge to prove me wrong! something inherently funny about tall Meryl. movie absolutely didn’t need to be two hours though. they even throw in a solid 90 seconds of an SNL sketch for some reason? sure, okay!

even though I think this movie is best when it’s a Julia Child biopic, i relate to Julie a lot in that…

carrie coon and jude law. CARRIE COON and jude law. carrie coon and JUDE LAW. CARRIE COON AND JUDE LAW!!!!!!!

so many dramas about upper-class families on the verge of collapse, of frustrated housewives and lying husbands, but what elevates The Nest above its oft-stagnant sub-genre is that the doomed couple in question is CARRIE COON AND JUDE LAW. it's blonde-on-blonde emotional violence of the highest caliber, fermenting within the stone walls of their frigid manor, the antithesis of homey comfort. carrie coon is on her gena rowlands shit. jude law is on his Closer (2004) shit. i'm on my Don't Let The Academy Ignore Them shit

i have seen this movie so many times that i could honestly recite it in my sleep .... or at the very least, give you a play by play of every scene, lol. it was a good rewatch though, mainly because i was trying to see it with new eyes. and i failed. but it was definitely interesting!

after watching two seasons of killing eve i learned that some people compare that show to this film bc they both are…
