“I'm taking this thing with me. I don't understand it, but I will.” -Spider-Noir 2018
On the surface, Inception is a sci-fi spy thriller, but you can look deeper to find themes of grief and thinking for yourself. I do not know what to do with these themes or what Christopher Nolan was trying to tell me about them, but I will learn. On a technical level, perfection. Hans Zimmer's score is fantastic, obviously, it's so well edited and sound designed, the digital and practical effects are indistinguishable, Leonardo DiCaprio's performance especially but the entire cast is amazing, and Christopher Nolan wrapped all of this up in an extremely entertaining and confusing film. Was I confused on occasion, obviously, do I care, not in the slightest. I enjoyed every goddamn second of this, and I wish to look deeper into the subtext of Inception in the future.
