seen over 7 films
how FANTASTICAL of tim burton and henry selick to just exist, only they could make something this OVERFLOWING with imagination. the pacing is so rhythmic and flows like a song that scratches the itch. i find that with children’s films, they don’t stick anything boring in there for afterthought, it just gives, but there’s no collateral damage to its substance. the whole fucking idea is just peak comedy to me like what if christmas… was halloween?? fuck yeah good point?? and…
just a movie that makes me think things like there’s a world around me and there’s people in it and you’re in their world too and you can’t control what anybody does about it and everything existential. and when i get over that it’s such a really movie.
i need a blanket just thinking about it. brrr.

lots of scary scary films make the darkness around you scary, but this one makes the darkness when closing your eyes scary, which is fun and creative.
interesting how ending my year 7 story competition with ‘and it was all a dream’ was “lazy” and “disappointing” but when wes craven does it it’s “iconic” and “one of the greatest horror films ever made”. sorry my name isn’t as cool. sorry i can’t be him ms spencer
